Great stuff RC, but as mentioned your bike is a hard-tail (no rear suspension). You will need a full suspension bike to attack the black runs. I've done some photography on the downhill course near where I live (Blue Mountain, Collingwood Ontario) and trust me the black runs are very scary to non down-hillers. Some of them I would not even climb down!!!

For me, I'll stick to the road. I've spent too much time in the Emergency Ward and in physio already. Besides life with gf is exciting enough. I mean that in a good way.

Good on you RC for giving it a go. You must have bigger attachments than most of the guys here. :coffee:

Cool bikes Bud!! What sort of cycling do you like best?

The Bike I was on was a hire bike. Don't know if it was a hard tail, don't know much about mountain bikes but it did feel much springier at the front. I had to take insurance in case I trashed it. If I'd written it off it would have been about £3000. It was hugely satisfying when I could do it half decently whatever bike it was. Love to do it agen. But it's not cheap. £60 a half day to hire or £3000 to buy one...then all the protective gear as well :yikes:

2013 Focus Cayo full carbon

Really nice stuff Bud. Have not seen a Cayo on the road around here yet. Focus does not seem to be a popular brand here yet, mostly Trek Madones and Cervelo's. I'll see if I can figure out how to post a pic of my Pinarello for you.

So Fernando buys a race team ...... a cycling team. Actually not much of a surprise, he trains with members of the Spanish Olympic Cycling Team and has often talked about team ownership. Alonso has agreed to take over the assets and obligations of the Euskatel-Euskadi team, and (most important) their pro licence which qualifies them to enter major races. Alonso has already lined up sponsorship, so it likely his take-over of this historically significant team will proceed seemlessly.

I guess they have the money if they want to do it. So if they have a passion for something they can do it. It's nice that he's getting involved in something he enjoys and also saving the team. I hope he's successful and in a few years when he goes international with it I may get to see his team out here on the tour de France!

It's a good question ...... have any other drivers done anything like this? I'm not sure, not quite like this I don't think.

The team is actually a Pro Tour team and not only do they do the major tours like the tour, the giro and the vuelta, but they pick up stages and is know for having strong mountain riders and even a GC contender now and then.

@Sagi... I guess only the ones getting 30+ million a year that can afford to invest their money. If you can turn your passion into a business, why not.
