It would be awesome to see Nico win a WDC, first father son pair to do so?

I think Graham/Damon Hill were the first father/son pair. But it would still be awesome nonetheless...

Bigazza.

I apologize. I was over the line attacking you personally it doesn't further the discussion in any way.

I gotta say, in his interviews not once did he throw his team under the bus like the usual :dummyspit: drivers on the grid would have.

No, he was clearly furious, and disappointed, but , kept it contained. We miscalculated.

I haven't been following all too closely this year. I didn't really pay attention to the qualifying order of Hamilton and Rosberg. All I focus on is pole positions. Hamilton's on pole tonight, so it's getting interesting. I'm not anti-Hamilton. I really admire the guy!

For me, I'm always thinking about how I will view these drivers in 20 years' time. Who will stand out as a great in the sport? I think there are at least 4 qualifying factors:

- Number of championships
- Number of race wins
- Number of pole positions
- How a driver has faired against his team mates.

Rosberg did very well against Schumacher. In hindsight I can see this, before I was so desperate to defend Schumacher for being away from the sport for so long, etc. (But look at what Raikkonen achieved in his first year back in the sport).

If Rosberg can beat Hamilton this season, and win a title or 2, then there is no reason why he can't be viewed as a great in the sport to tell your grand kids about.

I guess it's early days, but I love F1 for it's history. These guys who are racing now are making their own history. It will be interesting in 20 years' time. How will Vettel's umpteen world championships stack up against the rest of the drivers of his era? In the next 5 years Alonso, Button and perhaps Raikkonen will retire. Who will be the drivers to take their place as worthy rivals of the Vettel era? Rosberg will almost certainly be one of them.

I wonder if Nico wasnt slightly a victim of how well he has been doing recently. Maybe the team became over confident in his 1 lap speed and almost didnt want to insult him by sending him out for another run when lewis didnt need one. Nico was slower on his Q2 run and was only just inside the projected cut-off target. Maybe if Nico hadnt been matching Lewis recently they would have not chanced it and sent him out again.

(I just ruined my poetic post count of 911)

912 is also relevant. So will 914, 924, 928, 944, 964,968, 993 and if you want to get technical you can throw in 917, 935, and then get into the Porsche model numbers for the Boxster and the water cooled 911s. Enjoy lots of your future counts.

Based on his qualifying results and race points, Rosberg has improved massively !

Competition between team mates will do that.

I don't think he's improved massively, this is the first year the guy has actually got a decent car. He easily managed to send Schumacher packing 3 years running, sure, it was Old Man Schumi and not Michael Chopmacher, but he had to have some talent left in those dried out veins. :D

Although I'm not an expert, it seems obvious that any driver has to depend on his team to give him a good car!
Mercedes has "improved massively" (especially since their time at Barcelona), so it stands to reason that both
Rosberg and Hamilton are better able to show their talents!!

Very true Sagi. I also think Rosberg has been underestimated quite a bit. Now he's really being tested and he's standing up well.
