Yep. Although, I doubt it was to intentionally stop Heidfeld from getting the position he was on for. But still, they should both have known better than that. They aren't rookies anymore. And it will make tomorrow's race a bit more interesting, as already said. And in addition to that, the championship won't see McLaren in the lead very early on. I just hope that Heidfeld finishes well ahead of Hamilton. It would be nice if he could lead the championship for a while, though it would also be nice if Trulli got a podium. So for my ideal finish, a Ferrari driver would have to finish off the podium, and I would like Massa to win, so...

I'm a big Mclaren fan and I'm angry about this angry, angry at Mclaren why do they keep doing stuff like this which risks them from being able to compete properly. I do hate Parc Ferme It causes to many problems!

This crawling could be easily solved by adding a 107% provision to the quali rules. If you drive slower than 107% of your best Q3 time at the end of Q3 (without any technical problems) while there are others still doing hot laps, you get demoted by 5 grid spots. Simple!

Watching the re-run its more obvious than earlier when I was half awake. Webber and Kubica are keeping out the way on the dirty side of the track but Lewis and Kovy are going at a snails pace in the braking area.

Kovy seems to get out the way quickly to let Alonso past, but the damage had been done by then.

It would make it easier for the smaller teams to get up the grid. Don't you remember some golden moments of the 12 lap quali?

How do you compare a flying lap with an in lap?

I am glad something was done about that since from reply you can see Heidfeld trying to weaving in and out avoiding the Mclarens and getting off his racing line and missing his braking point. What ticked off the Stewards was not only they were the only two driving on the racing line but they were warned by their team that other drivers were still on their flying laps but they continued to drive on the racing line. I think its a fair punishment and something needs to be done to address this problem before the next race.

How do you compare a flying lap with an in lap?

Huh? What's your question?

Just compare the times of a driver. If his last lap is slower than 107% of his best quali time in Q3, he'll get penalized.

when do you stop the timing on an in lap? different tracks have different entrances to pits with different corners and lengths.

yes, but wheres the cuttoff point? 107% makes sense but mosely doesn't want to look a fool

That wouldn't work, I agree with DD that there has to be some rule but it's not just as simple as the 107% rule. Obviously they're not going to be driving at racing/flying lap speeds on their in laps so how slow is too slow?

The stewards can watch them go round the track and if they're crawling, then they'll be investigated. If the car is proven to have a technical problem that would cause it to run at a slower speed then they would get off with it, but if they were just going slow to save fuel like that, then a penalty. And I think it should be at the stewards' discretion, really.
