Or the times Ferrari have infringed.

When have Ferrari done anything against the rules this season?

As for Lotus, this thread is the first Ive heard about the "illegal" suspension.

You need to listen more carefully then.

There was a recent drs infringement by Ferrari

An illegal speed gain over the other cars 3 times in a race with no time penalty

IF you read the report, you would have seen that it was a mistake by the team, once they realised Alonso didnt use it unless he was told to - there were also other occasions he could have used it but didnt, because of this mistake according to the stewards - therefore he lost as much time as he gained.

Also, it made no difference to the result as a 20 second penalty would have left Alonso 5th.

Ah so it was a mistake with no intent to gain an illegal advantage?

Like Mercs test

Difference is, Alonso gained no advantage over the full race as a result of the error. Mercedes DID gain as a result of the testing "misjudgement"

Andddddd yet, with Pirelli bringing new spec tyres which Mercedes had never seen before, they win the race on their first outing. So why are people out there still bit*hing about this when it becomes a null point?

Merc broke the law by mistake and paid a penalty, like many teams have done and will do in the quest for pushing boudaries and testing limits.
They missed out on a tyre test and were punished more heavily than needed as many were quick to point out after Germany.

Its like someone has been tried, convicted, lynched to death and then burnt at the stake

yet some folks wanna dig up the body to kill him some more

let it go guys, otherwise Ross might get provoked into really messing with the regs :hehe:

imagine Lewis and Nico in the 2009 Brawn :smmack::whip:

You also said not participating in the YDT would hurt you!
Joke's on us, eh? :wavey:

God yeah, that was such a harsh penalty </sarcasm>

And, Mercedes was behaving in such an altruistic manner when they asked for it, eh? </sarcasm>

((p.s. hope you don't mind that I copied your "</sarcasm>" :wavey: ))

I do mind.
I mind a lot!

</sarcasm>

My apologies!! won't do it again!!

I guess it all boils down to what rule a team can use to its advantage via whatever loophole they recognize as being open to them!

In all honesty, I wish that Ferrari had done that testing! If they had and they'd improved as much as Mercedes has, I would be defending them from :cloud9: !!

I think if Mercs gain was down to that test they would have performed well at Canada and Germany, tracks where Hamilton has traditionally gone very well, but they didnt. The turnabout came ( if indeed it is a turnabout and not just a one off) after a test to which they were excluded and the introduction of a different tyre.
Merc have been working flat out to solve this problem. They have data from all their race weekends to work with . How can their last race improvement be solely put down to a Pirelli test when Merc didn't know what the programme was or what tyres were on the car?

Just fans of teams who were fighting for second place seeing a very real possibility they might not even get 2nd place now and write off hopes of Championships. Don't mind them too much. :hehe:

I think they did pretty well at Monaco and GB though...... Can't use half the races in that time frame as an example; especially because Lewis was on the podium for Canada too.

I think he has performed very well most of the season. Only finishing lower than 5th once in the last 10 races - I think that's much better than most would of predicted.

Im really not sure who's point this backs up (if anyones). Im just throwing it in.

Totally agree with you that all teams must be working hard to improve their results!! No argument there!!
Having said that, we can't honestly discount that 3-day period in Barcelona! Also, don't forget that even if
Mercedes wasn't present, it would seem they did receive data from that testing:

But isnt it data totally unrelated to the current tyres?
