True, but a difference of 2-3 seconds per lap is probably a little too optimistic and would be a comparison between very new and very old tires. Plus, its 4 "more" seconds you have to make up. So your new tires need to give you the usually pitstop time PLUS 4 or so more seconds.

I think Sky said the pit lane loss is now 21 seconds. So if we say the new tyres give you 2 seconds a lap, you can still catch the guy ahead in around 10 laps. Plus, the guys that stay out risking their tyres falling off the cliff, which could cost them 4-5 seconds a lap, especially around Hungary.

I can't get sky go in France, bloody frustrating!! But I've found it on the computer somewhere.
Mercs one/ two . Grosjean looking good. Perez in q3 despite having to have a car rebuild after 3rd practise. Webber in q3 despite having no KERS.

I'm happy to see Lewis on pole but we know Mercedes' race performance...I expect some more from Lotus though

Romain Grosjean could be facing exclusion from qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix after his car was found to be in breach of technical regulations.

The FIA tested the deflection of the front floor on the top three cars after qualifying, and while Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes and Sebastian Vettel's Red Bull conformed with the regulations, Grosjean's Lotus was found to deflect more than the permitted 5mm and as a result is in breach of regulations.

The report from FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer reads:

"After the qualifying practice session an asymmetric RHS front floor deflection test was carried out on car numbers 01, 08 and 10 according to Article 3.17.5.

"Car number 01 and 10 were found in conformity with Article 3.17.5 of the 2013 FIA Formula One Technical Regulations.

"However car number 08 did not comply with Article 3.17.5 of the 2013 FIA Formula One Technical Regulations as the front floor deflected more than 5mm vertically when the load was applied vertically to it at the point which lies 100mm of car centre line on the RHS.

"I am referring this matter to the stewards for their consideration."
