Maybe Mercedes should just go into the grand prix with tyres ready to explode...and when one of them explodes in the race ending the driver's race, they can turn around and sue the FIA for damages, disregard for safety of a competitor team, and anything else the lawyer has in his notes. :whip:

Mercedes to receive Pirelli tyre data from F1 Silverstone test

Mercedes will receive data on Pirelli's findings about its new tyres at the young driver test this week, despite being banned from taking part in it.

Although the Brackley-based outfit is not allowed to run at Silverstone this week as punishment for its illegal use of a 2013 car during a Pirelli test after the Spanish Grand Prix, it will still have access to some data from the three days.

Pirelli motorsport director Paul Hembery has told AUTOSPORT that his company will continue its policy of sharing all tyre test data with each team.

"The teams will have a very clear tyre test programme," said Hembery. "They have to run what we are telling them to run.

"Mercedes do have a lot of data from the tyre from last year in terms of the way it will affect aero and set-up.

"I think they would have benefited from being able to run.

"However, we give all the teams the same feedback [after the test]. We look at the same data, so they have all the same information."

As well as Pirelli's data from the Silverstone test, Mercedes reckons that its experience of back-to-back tests with the 2012 and 2013 rubber at last year's Brazilian Grand Prix will help it minimise any disadvantage.

Ross Brawn F1 2013Team boss Ross Brawn said: "We are looking at our experiences. We did some comparisons in Brazil between 2012 and 2013 tyres, so we are looking at all that data.

"We know the 2012 tyres from last year pretty well, and there are still 2012 wind tunnel tyres around.

"We are looking at it all to try to anticipate any effect [the new tyres] have.

"We don't expect the changes to be dramatic, but I think the construction changes are the ones that are going to be most significant.

"It doesn't help [missing the test] as we won't be trying the 2012 tyre on the [2013] car until we get to Hungary.

"It would have been nice to have an insight, but that is what we have to live with."

Ah so that's why Merc didn't protest when the FIA changed the YDT. This title should have read "Mercedes get data on other teams."

Maybe Toto is a wolf in Sheeps clothing

I reckon in Brawn and then Toto confidimus

The article has this 'Sun style sensation'

In the taped conversation, Wolff is thought to have spoken negatively about not only his F1 boss, Ross Brawn, but also the Daimler chairman Dieter Zetsche.

I mean, how tf is shareholder and head of Motorsport gonna talk negatively about his TP boss?

Damn. Well, I don't care much as Brawn will not suffer from this....if Wolff is indeed a d!ckhead, then he deserves to be in hot water.

Ex-F1 boss Kolles tried to blackmail Wolff
By Editor on Wednesday, July 17, 2013

Former HRT boss Colin Kolles tried to blackmail Mercedes chief Toto Wolff earlier this year, it has emerged.

We reported earlier that a conversation between Austrian Wolff and a then-unnamed former F1 team boss was “secretly recorded” and then threatened to be used against him.

Bild newspaper had said Wolff spoke negatively about his own boss, Ross Brawn, colleague Niki Lauda, and also Daimler chairman Dieter Zetsche, whilst divulging details of his clashing co-ownership of the Williams team.

A subsequent report by the magazine Sport Bild said Wolff had been taped in mid February this year by former HRT and Force India boss Kolles, in Barcelona.

That report said Kolles then threatened to release the details of their explosive conversation unless he paid a sum of money.

Reportedly, Wolff and Kolles have settled their dispute with the intervention of F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone, while Mercedes has obtained a court order preventing the publication of the details of the conversation.

Sport1 said Kolles would not comment, and Mercedes also declined to comment.

The German news agency SID said Wolff could not be reached at time of publication.

Bring in Bernie to mediate with a blackmailer... we now know he had some personal experience with that. :hehe:

You are right though that this re emergence of old and previously stiffled news should come out when Bernie, the great blackmail victim is indicted

Anyone else it might be a coincidence but Bernie....

Maybe as Bernie gets closer to trial we will see more and more F1 bath water thrown out with the baby

I bet Mosely is envious of Bernies proposed holiday with Helmut and Horst

Mosley has no reason to be envious of anyone. 60 year old grandpa getting spanked by 5 babes in a basement...what a stud. I've yet to even have a three-way.

"We are defending it properly," he said. "It will be an interesting case. It's a pity it's happened."
Ecclestone added: "If someone wants to sue you, they can do it and you have to defend it."

I love the tap dance going on... except Bernie, that this isn't a law suit by a private entity, this is a legal indictment by a German court.

Yup when Bernies lawyer pal was stitching up a German bank on F1 shares he really should have pointed out to Bernie that it was mostly owned by the German state of Bavaria who might be into cars but at the end of the day are still basically the 3rd biggest economy.

I mean what was Bernie thinking? 'Oh its only shareholders, they are normally too embarrassed at getting stitched up and stuffed with mispriced assets to sue'

Where does this leave Merc who have said that if Bernie is indicted they would not continue unless he is removed. Yet CVC said he could stay on unless actually convicted.
