Um no. The idea was, not the FIA approval.

Looking at this source, it appears that Dauber has been looking for just about any measure to get money. Yikes... Doesn't look good for Sauber, from what I've heard they aren't looking good financially...

Teds Notebook spoke about it for a while after the race yesterday, the team sort of admitted they where in financial difficulty but said they would be OK. (Not that they would ever say that they are just about to go bust)

Austrian GP to return next season on July 6th, according to Autosport.

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/108917

If that is true, I'm guessing the first 7 races will retain their original dates, with Silverstone moving to the 22nd June, then Austria and Germany back to back on the 6th and 13th. This at least would reduce two of the 3 week gaps we've had, and if it does i'll be glad. There have been far too many 3 week breaks this season!

Well, that seems to be the logical solution ;)

EDIT - This has now also been confirmed by Sky Sports News!

If this is true, then this is F1's finest moment since McLaren's last title. :P:cloud9::cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:

I hope this isn't the death knell for the NJ GP.

Dude Austrian GP anyday man....it's second only to Spa to me. A sick layout which commands power and screaming engines all the way, not to mention one fine year where the entire circuit was booing a 1-2 red car finish....What a tragedy when it was left out. :D

A GP in the streets you grew up in is a GP in the streets you grew up in. Why can't we have both? :irked:

Agree, Austria has always given us good races, Schumacher had great comebacks from a penalty in 97 and breaking his front wing in 98. Hakkinen's 99 recovery was as good. Also Schumacher's 03 win was one of his best ever!

This will be even better with the Turbo's and less downforce next season!
