It's hard to gauge, there are always going to be give and take aspects of it. I think Ferrari this year is guilty of some of the same things McLaren did last year, and it's difficult to explain certain calls like the front wing fiasco with Alonso. I think given the fact that they have a clearly better foundation this year than last, and the faults have been self imposed almost, like just not getting the car right or failing to improve even though they bring quite a bit of updates to a car is what's kept me from giving them more. I used "budget" as a criteria remember.

A race by race statistical analysis of the 2012 season v's 2013 season gives a good indication of who's made the greatest gains and losses.

You've got to be iffy with that though, if you look at Hamiltons race purely statistically at Silverstone and it was terrible, pole to 7th?!?

Agreed... you know things like that tend to balance out but not always.

Wait... didn't Lewis finish 4th or 5th Silverstone?

Lotus have also raced with an illegal car and are lucky not to have lost points as no penalty was levied whatsoever

:hehe: and yet absolutely no one is angry at them.

Those who get angry at rule breaking in general ( and definetely not by any particular teams) are not willing to throw the morality card unless the media publicise the incident. Funny that

I wouldn't do it for individual drivers but I am doing it for teams.

FOURTH.

He did better with a punctured tyre at Silverstone, than what he did at Germany with no issues. :scratchchin:

Yeah but that's because they had the advantages from their illegal tyre test taken away (Swapping tyres is one thing they learnt from the test)

I think that you've come up upon THE solution. Every Mercedes result going forward should have an asterisk with the associated result had they not cheated with the tire test.

Well after the YiDT (Young ish drivers test) and the new tyre regulations and compounds, only Monaco, Canada and Silverstone should have asterisks.

If you mark it against the start of the season, Ferrari I think should score lower, though considering last year, I guess an improvement is there.

Sauber I guess are the main losers compared to last year, Williams have been struggling for a while,

Lotus have of course made real gains too.

McLaren is fairly obvious I guess.

Which means Redbull and Ferrari need to have asterisks as well...since they learned from Mercedes on how to do tyre swaps. :banghead2:

Yeah I thought Mercedes were late to that party.
