Red Bull looks very good from their long race pace to me. Merc, if anything seemed to be off the pace on their long runs on both the option and the prime tire - perhaps they were running heavier loads, or perhaps, even with all the tire planets lining up for them recently it still isn't enough to help them cope with the softer compounds.

Ferrari also looked very good on the long runs, in fact, I thought they may have been best on the soft compound and matched the Bulls on the prime. Just a note I believe Nando started his long run on primes when his tires were 15 laps old whilst Seb's were 8 laps old and Webber's were 7 laps old. Nando matched the Bulls times, so there is a "glimmer" for the Tifosi to be optimistic about. Hopefully a good race coming up.

I wouldn't write Merc off just yet.

Asked if Mercedes had slipped off the pace relative to Red Bull in P2, Hamilton replied: "Mine has definitely, yeah. I was back in eighth."

Elaborating on the reasons for his afternoon travails in Mercedes' later press release, the 2008 World Champion said: "This morning went pretty well and the car felt good, but then we made some changes which didn't quite work out for us this afternoon. The car felt a little off balance during P2 so we'll have a look into that overnight and probably backtrack on some of those changes for tomorrow.

"I'm sure we will be back on form for P3

I'm hoping that Ferrari have not properly sorted Alonsos car and it fails on the final corner of the final lap.

He could still coast over the line

Team orders would force Massa to pull up behind Alonso and ram Alonso's car round the last corner and over the line ;)

As for race pace - Ferrari seem to have good race pace, but that is no good if/when they start at the wrong end of the top 10!

3rd row would mean a realistic chance of winning here.

I saw that on their Twitter, they had help from Caterham, Marussia and Force India's mechanics to put out the fire and there was a lot of love being bounced around the teams on Twitter :hehe:

Not sure Alonso can do a lot about the Red Bulls and Rosberg, but he could get 4th if he can get some heat into his tyres, which would set him up well for the race.

What the f**k were Mercedes thinking??? :banghead::banghead::banghead: OVERCONFIDENCE...they never expected the track to change so much. I think it changed by about half a second through Q2!
