It's the only time when these guys were in equal machinery...

So you believe equal machinery is a better indication than equal .
Strange logic...

and if you go back to before Formula 1 when these two were racing together, Hamilton was already a big name while Vettel who was racing alongside was almost a nobody.

How many people do you think knew the 19 year old German driving a BMW at the front on Friday, versus a 21 year old Brit fighting Nelson Piquet, Jr. in GP2?

"Equal machinery is a better indication than equal" <-- could you rephrase this? You lost me.

I can't be too sure about the number of people, since I never counted. But I know when they were both racing together in that spec series, Hamilton was the star of the show. His name was mentioned a hell of a lot more...but I guess that was partly due to his ties with McLaren. Still, where there's smoke in the press, most likely there's fire (true talent). :D

So you believe equal machinery is a better indication than equal circumstances.
I don't know how technical you are, but if not, there will be plenty of people that can explain to you how "dry" is not the same as "same circumstances".
Just look at the rookie tests, who often, if not always put in better times than during the Grand Prix.

Ok thanks for completing the sentence this time...

Hamilton made his lap on a wet track as well. I don't know if you watched the episode, but there you go.

If you call that wet, it would explain your simplistic view on things...

Yes, and I guess Jeremy Clarkson is also as dumb as I am. You're a genius statistician who knows it all.

Not sure what Jeremy Clarkson has to do with things, considering he's made no statement to support your claim.

Didnt Vettel say something about how he couldnt wait to return to Top gear because Lewis had monstered his time?

Maybe he meant this

At the end of the day, Vettel has 3 WDC's and is well on his way to a 4th, while Hamilton won his by a point, with a weak team mate. (Although he was up against it for most of the season, ala Belgium).

Vettel has succeeded in every challenge he has been confronted with. I take solace from the fact that finished that year as the best rookie in 2005, and Hamilton's extra experience showed in that battle. He quite clearly had the best vehicle that year. Otherwise, you would have to admit then that Nico Rosberg, Jamie Green and 2 French guys are better than Hamilton, as they finished ahead of him the same series the year before. It really is ridiculous logic, I feel.

Vettel also had a season where he thoroughly trounced everyone in Junior BMW Series....

I don't really give a crap. It's the nature of F1. Instead of looking for flaws in Hamilton's driving pedigree I acknowledge that he did what a high level racing driver should do. Take your chances. He was given the machinery, and he extracted the maximum out of all his opportunities..

He is also a World Champion, and has continually won races every season since he started in F1. He is easily the 3rd best driver on the grid. I accept the situation that he is in, and acknowledge when he is doing his best.

However, he has lost to Jenson Button as a team mate before. And he could very well lose to Rosberg this year. We'll see though, at the moment he is doing a good job.

Sebastian Vettel is doing what is expected of a triple world champion. 90% of the time they have the best car on the field. Schumacher, Fangio and even Senna all had the best cars. Just so long as they capitalise on their opportunities, and even create opportunities. If Vettel didn't win world championships, then he would be dropped. If Coulthard was still racing for Red Bull and they felt their car needed a world champion, then they would've got Hamilton. But they have Vettel, and he has done the job. They don't need Hamilton or Alonso, so just accept the situation for what it is.

Let's look at Monaco 2011. Vettel won because of a Red Flag. Not his fault, is it? He was presented with an opportunity, and took it. Senna on the other hand, won a world championship crashing someone off the race track - which is a disgrace.

Why don't you do yourself a favour and watch this little gem again (without skipping) before spouting more crap. Peel your ears between 8:30 - 8:35 please.
