Yeah but tyres is an exception, they were getting carried away with the sensitiveness.

I would suggest that the tyres need a hell of a lot of testing, esecially when the FiA have instucted Pirelli to make tyres that degrade quicker than what has been used in previous seasons. Without testing it is very difficult to get it right. As such, all the testing is being carried out during GP weekends, which is daft.

I still think there should be all of three tires: dry, intermediate and wet. There, problem solved

British GP: Hamilton, Perez say tyre issues unacceptable

Hamilton says tyres issues unacceptableLewis Hamilton and Sergio Perez declared Pirelli's British Grand Prix tyre problems as "unacceptable".

The pair were among four drivers to have dramatic tyre blow-outs during the Silverstone race, with Hamilton's coming while his Mercedes was leading on lap seven.

Several other drivers reported tyre troubles during the event.

"The safety is the biggest issue," said Hamilton. "It's just unacceptable.

"We had that tyre test to develop and improve the tyres to stop that from happening and after that tyre test they didn't do anything.

"Someone could've crashed. I was thinking behind the safety car that it's only when someone gets hurt that something will be done about it."

McLaren driver Perez echoed Hamilton's forthright comments.

"This is unacceptable, we are risking our lives and we shouldn't wait until something happens to all of us," he said.

"If it happens at 250km/h it will be a big shame so Pirelli has some work to do."

When asked if he would talk to Pirelli or the FIA about the events of Silverstone, Hamilton said any such conversations would be pointless.

"I think it's a waste of time talking to any of them at the moment," he said.

"They can see what happened today. They have to react to it."

I'm just wondering, do you guys think Pirelli regrets being an official tyre supplier and conforming to the FIA's requests of crappy tyres?

For example, fan power can be a powerful thing. I for one, won't be surprised if Pirelli's sales took a hit in GB, with many Hamilton supporters who might likely see today as a win being taken away from him due to the tyre issue. There's not logic in the product itself since the technology and requirements of a road car tyre is completely different...but for me, the thought of purchasing Pirelli tyres already stands as a bleak possibility simply for the fact that I've seen their tyres burst into pieces on racing cars too many times already.

Bridgestone's logic of "put up with our way or shut up" looks so sensible right now. Pirelli looked like the big heroes coming in saying 'we're here to improve the show' but instead are becoming the biggest joke of the sport, if not already.

Yes, I think they do regret it and you can tell it's pretty awkward when Paul Hembrey is being asked about the tyre situation in interviews at the races.

The tyres are poo! And I wouldn't buy them after today even if they were rock solid on a road car! And all those people that say the tyres are good fun and add an extra dimension to the racing....well ask the drivers whose tyre exploded about that!
And , yes, the GP had exiting moments and some fantastic driving, but talking it up plays into the FIA's hands to continue with the nonsense. It's false, it's, contrived and it's dangerous. Well it's just poo!

To be fair to Pirelli, they were asked to spice the action up with the tyres

Whats more spicy than randomly exploding tyres? Bernies water sprinklers?

I just think its unfair to blame Pirelli for carrying out their mandate. Instead the idiot who decided that making the 4 bits that connect these 700hP cars to the Earth fragile or less effective should find himself in a German court and then a state funded German hotel discovering which part of his digestive system is most fragile

Well yes, the little squirt is always at the heart of stupid decisions. But I wish Pirelli had had the integrity to say. 'This is not a good idea and could be dangerous' . If they didn't know it could be dangerous , well they should have done, it's their job. And now they're in a mess and the publicity they are receiving is very very negative. That race was close to being red flagged by Charlie Whiting, very close. One more failure and he'd have done it. Can you imagine the flack if that had happened?

He really should have after 3 left rears exploded showering others with metal laced debris. I expected more explosions, and the bravery shown by Lewis in coming through the field after his blowout, knowing there had been another couple......

Maybe the future is for all drivers to do a Button. 'I was overtaken by Williams and Torro Rossos because i couldnt get heat into the tyres = I was too scared to drive any faster because my teammates tyres exploded'
