Interesting quote from Il Leone

"Jenson is a great driver and if you give him the right car and conditions he will fly," said Mansell.
"The whole package has to come together and what people don't realise is that drivers have to put input in that package.

is he saying Jenson should be more proactive in getting the right car and conditions? Surely he doesnt expect Jenson to create the perfect weather conditions he needs to excel?

I just couldn't help laughing for 20 seconds straight reading this article....

Jenson Button said he was "a sitting duck" in the final laps of the British Grand Prix as he tumbled from sixth place to 13th in his home grand prix.

The McLaren driver and team-mate Sergio Perez had come through to sixth and seventh places as others pitted during the safety car for Sebastian Vettel's stranded car.

But Button said the combination of a late restart and cars behind on newer tyres was a worst-case scenario for McLaren's current issues.

"When the safety car came out at the end, I had quite old tyres and was just a sitting duck," he said.

"I couldn't get any tyre temperature. That's one of our issues anyway and when you've got no tread you definitely can't get tyre temperature.

"I was just waiting for people to pass me. It was tough."

Button was also confused by the McLaren's tyre behaviour earlier in the race, when he struggled with graining on the harder Pirellis then found the softer medium option far better.

"The first stint we went for the primes because nobody else in front was on them, but that was actually the one that grained - front and rear - for me so we had big problems in the first stint," he said.

"We just had to wait until a lap we could pit and put the other tyre on.

"I was much happier on that tyre - strong pace and no graining... work that one out..."

McLaren now have a run of two races without a point. Talk about ending a streak with an exclamation mark.

Yeah, time to focus on next year for them. What an abysmal run of form.

We're not even halfway through the season and Mercedes are over 130 points ahead of McLaren.

It would be fun to go back through history and dig up some posts of how "Hamilton has made the biggest mistake of his life" "McLaren are going to cream Mercedes again" "Hamilton will be crawling back to McLaren soon enough".

So Button admits he is a duck who is sitting because his wings don't work, I.e a lame duck

And he blames the car!

Funny how there's is not a single person alive who saw the race and would not expect Sergio to finish inside the points bar tyre

Even though Sergio had the older floor and Button had the upgrade on his car

Sergio has whipped him 5 races in a row, has dnfed and had bad luck in almost each race, and yet Button, the senior team leader who is building a team around him and has made the team his, and the team have really listened to his direction on the car

is still only a handful of points ahead of the raw junior who is there to be groomed by Whitmarsh

I hope anyone who actually fell for the hype about Button, and ignored hard facts pre 2009, ( actually, include the second half of 2009) are feeling happy about themselves because they are complicit in the ruin of a great team. What excuses are there now for the tyre master?

Who can honestly say that they do not look to Sergio for any glory from McLaren nowadays? Yet he is paid a tenth of self proclaimed lame ducks 3rd highest wage

First of all Cookin, a lame duck has a bad leg, a duck that could not fly would just be a flightless duck. Not having a leg - lame would not stop said duck from flying.

This is what I mean, at every opportunity Cookin and Hammer just rip into Jenson, it could be a Ferarri thread and they have to have their dig at Jenson. I have my favourites and my not so favourites but as an adult I am able to screen myself. I don't continually repeat my thoughts and views in every thread. Love your racer, go for it but just stop with all the negatives.

I have been to many GP's with friends who support different teams, we have never argued about teams or drivers. F1 is not football and after a race we have a drink with supporters from all teams and congratulate the winners.

Cookin, apart from Jenson being good looking and driving racing cars and making lots of money, what is it about him that you really despise? Did he beat you in a spelling competition when you were 4? I have read everything you have said about him so no need to retype but really, what makes you hate a person you don't know so vehemently? And the same question goes to Hammer and no point to Racechick because she loves only Lewis

This is like deja vu, am I imagining things?

Did we not have the same post from the same poster, who then concluded that they would leave the forum and never come back?

Why come back and get upset and leave again, are you looking for attention? did you just split up with an ex? Give us a break

So you want to complain, but at the same time you are willing to join the argument, e.g.

First of all Cookin, a lame duck has a bad leg, a duck that could not fly would just be a flightless duck. Not having a leg - lame would not stop said duck from flying.

If you are so disgusted why would you even bother to argue a point. Maybe you want to join in and argue, but you cant win arguments and so you turn up to argue AND to demand the argument stopped

No that behaviour is repetitive and annoying and frankly creepy

By the way 'lame duck' is an expression meaning a helpless target, easy prey for shooters, too easy, in fact, just like Button

Don't bother...anyone who declares they're leaving a forum and never coming back, and does exactly that with the same whining syndrome is just not worth it. Drama Queens are just waiting for a response, don't feed the DQs. :hehe:

and no point to Racechick because she loves only Lewis

And guess what!! He's split up with Nicole and he likes the older woman :D:D I reckon I'm in there!! He gave me a thumbs up at Silverstone too! :P

I support him because he's fast, exciting, drags poor cars up the grid, plays things straight. Simply the best.

I've answered your question about why I don't like Button in the ' how do you solve a problem like Mclaren thread' . But in short, because he does sneaky things to get one over on his team mate. And talks himself way above his ability.

But though Lewis is my man, Im a loose woman. I also like to see Rosberg do well and Webber, quite like little Checko too. And theres the outrageously good looking, barely out of their teens gang....who could resist them eh Lew

I'm not exclusive entirely you see :D

and your not put off by his hair.
You can support whoever you like, but have a wide range of favourite drivers. Dont just like only one . Or drivers you at least respect.
