I was refering to a general attitude toward technology that permeates through the team

Maybe you/he forgot to mention the quality control that led to installing a component upside down

Yeah maybe they will introduce robots on their assembly line

So the team have now thrown in the towel for 2013, admited defeat and turning focus to 2014, and its not even halfway.
This just is not what we expect from Mclaren, however Button will be comfortable with it, as the same thing happened in 2008 with Honda

Makes sense as they were going nowhere, but a lot needs to change for 2014, however Button now says instead of going over to Red Bull to replace Webber (:rofl::rofl: ) he is prepared to stay on at McLaren for the 'tough times' :banghead:

I think going for 2014 is a pretty sensible decision, Ferrari probably should too actually. Not much to be gained from this season I guess, the money is probably disproportionally weighted to higher up positions in the WCC, so McLaren have little to fight for this year, for Ferrari it's all about the championships and they won't get any this year it seems.

"It's not great, but it's less bad," said Button. "I'm higher on the grid than we expected me to be. We changed a few things for qualifying and it felt much better.
"We're still not quick, but we are a second slower than the quick cars in qualifying, which means we gained the half-a-second we had hoped to.
"It's been fun driving the car, and that's the important thing at the moment. All I want to do is a good job in front of the home fans."

...seriously he is just there to pick up a pay check and enjoy his superstar life. No hunger for wins, championships, its all pretense if he mentions them. Undoubtedly the happiest member at McLaren currently. LIke a deadly virus, infecting every team he goes to.

And the comedy that is McLaren keeps on giving.

Remind me again how bad the 2009 "Honda" was again?

Whats the relevance to Button spending half the season in a car that has been given up on, with resources diverted to the following year?

Oh I see, next years car will be a world beater and Button will win the WDC? Very cunning plan, who is gonna fund the hire of 3 or 4 wind tunnels simultaneously though?

I am just pointing out that realising you have a dud and have figured out that you have taken it as far as you can then why not move on to a season where there is massive changes to the regulation.

I only hope that Mclaren know what is wrong with this years car so they know what to avoid next year.

Isn't their change of focus an admission that they don't know/can't fix it or else they would try for the remainder of the season?

I think Button would bail if Red Bull put a contract in front of him and bought him out of his existing gig.

Yup, but they won't I think, I think pretty much every driver would, the only doubts would be Alonso and Hamilton, but even them, oh and Kimi cos he's like that.

I think switching attention to 2014 is the right way to go, and as such, McLaren fans can breath a (temporary) sigh of relief. This season is such a write-off for the team.

I really hope next year is better for them. As for this year, ever since Barcelona, I've not really been bothering myself worrying about McLaren's fortunes. I'm just wishing for some great racing for the rest of the year.
