To describe my view of the Melbourne GP as "dissappointing" is understating it to the extreme. I am pleased that I decided not to attend this year.

Okay there were some rookies attending their first race but surely all that that means is that you give them room until they have established their credentials.

The first lap carnage was completely inexcuseable for a group of guys who are supposedly at the pinnacle of the sport.

Even some of the more experienced players got overcome by the "red mist" a la Massa.

If F1 is going to retain viewer/spectator interest then someone needs to remind these overpaid throttle jockeys why they are there and stop the on track collisions and offs.

I a remain disgusted.

Actually, I'm afraid that this weird Aussie race with all the incidents, etc., probably helped attract more F1 viewers - not necessarily F1 fans, but curious newbies who confuse watching races with seeing lots of 'action' of the carnage type.

that was the most exciting gp ive seen in ages! i love the accidents! sorts the pros from the rookies!

the best bit, a good driver can now outperform the car

Although Ferrari ran a dismal race, I agree that the race was very exciting and I watched it from start to finish without falling asleep once.

Only 7 drivers finished the grand prix so from that angle i can see why the race was full of appalling driving. I say give the drivers a chance. Some have gotten so used to computers driving the car they have not yet adapted and so we get more accidents. I thought race was great btw :D

i really don't see how you can complain seeing a crash, yes is not great for the driver, but (most) fans like it. Personally i love the "new" f1 with no TC it (so far) has made f1 so more spectacularaly good

The loss of electronics no doubt made the race more exciting - I loved seeing the cars look twitchy. I do, however, agree with the original poster's point: That drivers were flying all over the joint is a disgrace. They should have been more or less adapted now. Further, the complaining that went on and continues to go on about it is pathetic.

Nobody's perfect, even Schumacher used to make plenty of mistakes and it's great to see drivers being rewarded for driving well and punished for making mistakes. That's why F1 is the pinnacle of Motorsport.

I was disappointed that Vettel took Button out when he speared off the track (Not his fault, they were all squeezed together and someone had to get a tap), but I sitll thought it was an exciting race. Unpredictable.
