A report from the Italian Autosprint magazine claims that the Red Bull of Mark Webber showed signs at the Canadian Grand Prix that are consistent with the use of traction control – which is banned in Formula 1.

After looking at a picture of Mark Webber accelerating out of a corner after a collision with the Caterham of Giedo Van Der Garde Autosprint report that the markings left by the accelerating red bull of Mark Webber could be consistent with traction control.

“You immediately notice the traces on the track, those are not continuous (usually darker at the beginning and then gradually faded) of a ‘screech.’”

“It is the typical behaviour of a road car that goes ‘jerky’ with the traction control switched on,” reports Autosprint.

Interesting, i wonder if we'll see a protest from any teams at the next race now possible evidence is in the public domain.

Well even if there is no foul play I hope a few other teams just put some heat on Redbull anyway, the new F1 Whiners headed by Horner deserve a taste of their own crap.

Not true, it's a non-story, nothing to see here people, move on.

Yeah quick everyone, Lemon has decided he thinks its rubbish, so we cant talk about it. lock the thread.

I agree that it looks like a bit of grasping at straws / slow news day.

However I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be true.

Unless Mercedes also has traction control

as well as Force India

I'll go with the experts on this:
Craig Scarborough ‏@ScarbsF1 Nope, its just drivetrain oscillation causing a momentary change in torque at the wheels.
Matt Somerfield ‏‏@SomersF1: Long winded answer: Slow speed traction causes drivetrain oscillation along with vertical sidewall deformation.

Well this is a news story, EVERYONE HAS TRACTION CONTROL!

Who was that embarrassing for exactly? The only people I can see it being embarrassing for is the Italian media who had already basically given Alonso the title due to the "illegal" overtake.

Italian media, Ferrari, anyone who felt the need to jump on it time after time with "this time it's real!"
Probably thé most embarassing media story in history, because of the desperation. Clutching for one straw after another, after another, after another, only to find they were so wrong that the FIA just said "there is nothing to investigate". Seriously, how stupid do you look when you create such a mega-cluster-fuzz, only to then be told it's so much nothing, it's not even worth writing more than one sentence for. That's like bigging yourself up in the media, printing t-shirts and bringing 100 fans to American Idol, only to then be buzzed out before you even get to finish your song. It is that embarrassing.

It's not embarrassing, it's the media. Sometimes they uncover things , sometimes hey don't, but they bring it to light and it can be discussed. This is F1. I mean who would have expected a team boss to tell his driver to crash? That was ridiculed but it was true. Who would have thought that the guy running the show and banging on about not bringing the sport into disrepute, would be caught with his pants down wearing a nazzi uniform and being whipped by a whore? But it was true.
Red Bull have flexed the rules befor so it's worth exploring if they're doing it again. If not Thats fine , but it's not embarrassing to question.

You'd have thought people learned after the utterly embarrassing yellow-flag-gate in Brazil last year.

Oh I thought you were going to say about the utterly embarrassing adjustable ride height control in parc ferme.
