ESPNF1: Kimi Raikkonen and Daniel Ricciardo will both start one place further back on the grid at the Canadian Grand Prix after being slapped with penalties by the stewards.

Both drivers were penalised for not restarting Q2 in the fast lane of the pits following the red flag for Felipe Massa's accident. The cars formed a disorderly queue at the end of the pit lane in an attempt to try to rejoin the track as far forward as possible and secure a clean lap with just two minutes remaining in the session.

Raikkonen and Ricciardo were deemed to have queued in the wrong place (to the left of the fast lane of the pits and in the area where practice starts are made) and have been given two-place grid penalties as a result.

However, because Raikkonen was penalised first, his penalty is enforced first dropping him 11th but he is then promoted to 10th when Ricciardo's penalty is implemented. Meanwhile, Ricciardo moves up to ninth when Raikkonen's penalty is enforced but the drops to 11th when his own two-place penalty is added.

In short, Nico Hulkenberg moves up two places while Raikkonen and Ricciardo drop one place.

Disorderly? Oooh, no no, we can't have that! :hehe:

It was actually really cool to see Bottas get P3, the crow was really behind him and when he did his cooldown lap, he got more cheers than anyone else.

Ah, that explains his sudden performance jump
Image:hehe:

He should help Maldonado next. :hehe:

Does anyone know if RBR had wet weather setup on their cars and if so does that explain why Vettel managed to get pole position.

On the other hand, are Ferrari and Lotus running dry weather setups for tomorrow's race?

Thanks in advance

RBR wouldn't give away any setup info, but they have been fast in the wet before, like in Malaysia, I guess most teams are going for a 50/50 bet on setups for tomorrow, seems like the forecast changes all the time, but I think it's going to be dry tomorrow

I don't think the differences are to do with setup. Ferrari and Lotus have very good race pace through their tire management - the flip side of that is they don't heat up their tires fast. RB and Merc heat their tires fast, but chew them faster. In cold wet conditions its just accentuated. Track temp will be all important tomorrow.

This race looks to be wet as well but hopefully nowhere near what the 2011 race was. We got totally soaked and expected the race to end, left the circuit and heard they started the final part of the race back up and missed it.

It's gonna rain in the morning but the sun will come out later on fingers crossed. The forecast says light rain the whole day.

man that is unlucky.

for me I'm looking forward to a wet Canada, those Williams seem to be quite good in the wet.

Heavy layer of gray clouds over the city but certainly no drizzle for the first time since Friday. The morning is still going to be dicey, but things should be dry and the sun beginning to do it's thing about an hour before race start. With more sun, I'll be able to get better pictures. Hard to get sharp images of a car doing 130 Mph with a 5.6 aperture at 300 mm. :banghead:

Willams say on twitter that there is some sun peeping through the clouds,I guess it's going to be dry as I thought and Mercedes said that it didn't rain that hard at the track overnight but it was wet at the paddock

It's gonna be intresting as we all have slightly different views and sources on the weather.
