Well andrew, fair play to you for correctly assuming a mechanical issue. You got a fair old bit of stick for that...

The crash on Saturday was driver error...which andrew kept claiming was mechanical. Which it wasn't. The crash on Sunday, a mechanical problem indeed. Just putting it out there. :)

Lewis was doing purple sector times before Massa's crash. They had it covered to keep 1st and 2nd. The timing off that safety car was bad for them. In retrospect they should have brought Nico in when Vettel pitted and Lewis when they brought Nico in, but hindsight is wonderful and they weren't to know the safety car was coming then.had they done that they'd have kept 1st and 2nd.
Also they asked Lewis for a 6 sec gap( not sure why) and the gap he had was 7.5. So nothing to beat himself up about about. Mercedes had a good haul of points and but for the safety car would have had more. Lewis could easily have been the lead Merc had he been a fraction quicker in sector 1 of Q3. He was faster off the line than Nicco as well but took his foot off rather than risk anything. Not really a bad day at the office.

Tell that to Vettel he's the one complaining about Monaco results.

I think he's complaining about how slow everyone has to drive, now that he didn't win. I'd expect a racing driver to complain they didn't win...

ESPNF1:
DR: "For myself it was a trip to see the stewards. I'm not surprised Romain picked up a penalty: we were in the stewards' office together and, to be honest, I didn't need to say much. They had the data and once I saw the video, it was pretty much what I thought it had been. Tom Kristensen [driver steward, eight times Le Mans winner] was there and he's experienced enough to understand that type of collision.

"Sometimes when things like this happen, you want to blow off steam but by that point I really couldn't be bothered shouting and screaming at Grosjean. It was a disappointing end to a deeply unsatisfying weekend and I didn't want to waste the energy yelling 'screw you, what the hell were you thinking?' I just said 'you're an idiot', and that was it.

"If there's a bright side, it's that it didn't cost me any points. It's a funny sort of positive to take away but I'd have felt a lot worse if I'd been in the top ten at that stage."

That's the spirit;:clap: he's been spending time at Kimi's communication school. Don't talk too much, a simple you're an idiot and maybe a punch in the face will do.

Romain can start looking a seat outside of F1 I think, if he wants to drive next year. :wavey:

Now anyone wants to make bets of Who'll be the 2 drivers at Lotus beginning of 2014 season. I'll buy a :drink: to anyone getting it correct.

To be honest, that should be standard penalty that the stewards use from now on. Forget grid place penalties, which obviously don't teach them anything, and anytime someone causes an accident, they get a punch in the face, and told they are an idiot. I think if, for example, Maldonado knew he would get his lovely straightened teeth punched in every race, he may buck his ideas up.

Who would do the punching? It would need to be consistent.

I didn't first pay attention to that line, but it seems like a message to McLaren and reference to Perez.

It's F1 they can engineer a carbon fiber punching machine. But punching is too violent... something a little more demeaning, like a bitch slap might be more suitable.
