Rosberg has been 'consistent', but he's simply capitalised on others' mistakes. Nothing wrong there... just not enough once everyone gets their head screwed on right. Of course, only because the Merc is not the best car... if it were, Nico's consistency could be worth the championship.

When Ross Brawn says you can't count out Mercedes, then you can't count them out imo. Mercedes could become a big threat during the season, although the best improvement during a season have shown McLaren and Ferrari (last year)

I think 2nd in the run is good really.

Yeah in the end Rosberg will be the champion with no wins at all..like his father

Holy thread revival Batman!! :D

Thought it might be an appropriate time to revisit this thread now that Rosberg has a new team mate and we're a few races in! Thoughts on Rosberg? Any original contrbutors still think the same / changed their opinions in any way? Interesting to hear new contributions and thoughts too. :)

On track, Nico is no Button as Hamilton has now probably (fully) realized.

(Scurries back first to see what she wrote last time) good things :D
An underestimated driver, possibly because he's never been in a clear cut top car, possibly because he doesn't drive flamboyantly.
Top notch, extremely consistent, very intelligent, very suited to the type of driving required with the current cars/ tyres/ regs. Great team payer. Maybe lacks some of the balls out stuff Hamilton can deliver but makes up for it in other ways. A great pairing with Hamilton.

This threads so old they probably stated it about keki :hehe:

It's interesting to see how many members posted initially in this thread no longer post on this forum...

But back on topic; my opinion has definitely changed, I said Rosberg was solid but not WDC material... this year he has been a revelation, really stepping upto the plate now he has Hamilton as a team mate, if Mercedes can get their act together, I could see Rosberg pipping Hamilton to a World Title...

Thankfully some of them no longer post.

Back to Rosberg, my mind has not changed. The guy beat Michael Schumacher for three seasons, hard to think of a more iconic yardstick. The majority of pundits weren't giving him a chance, yet he quietly and harmoniously went about the business of scoring more points.

He's a smart, consistent and mistake free driver. Perhaps more defensive than offensive in his style, but given the right chance he's certainly capable of a WDC.

I've always held Nico in high regard. I clearly remember his first Grand Prix, the Bahrain GP of 2006, a race in which he set the fastest lap, driving for Williams.

He's never had a title-contending car, but if and when he does get one, he's more than capable of doing the job.

I have not looked to see if I posted before. I think until this year Nico has not really been in a situation where he has been comparable with the rest of the field. No one really knew what level Schumacher came back at. Nico has gine up in my estimation though as I always saw him as a journey man
