This is why Mercedes Benz and Ferrari....i.e engine builders and car manufactures will always be ahead of Red Bull, where power and influence are concerned.

I'm not saying it's right, but let's face it, Red Bull have always been laughed at and everyone knows that Adrian Newey is the man.
Everything else is just a side show to his skill.

But you said its about money, Redbull are probably worth more to the money side of things in F1 than Mercedes are. They are probably more important to Bernie and his daughters than Mercedes are.

f1boy, you're allowed your opinion on the matter, but that's all it is... an opinion. it would be difficult to come up with substantive examples to back up what you're stating.

Not really, this isn't so related to tyres at all, I mean, it sort of is, but the real point is the regulations and the means they were breached.

F1boy I guess, is arguing the rules don't matter, cos it's Mercedes and they are valuable.

In any event, it's probably way better for Perrellli's image, to have Ferrari's performing well on their tyres, not just because of Ferrari owners, but the Ferrari brand is so strong, owners of other cars, will be impressed by it. Possibly.

But well, I think (and take into account Andrew Benson's articles) it was Mercedes because they are the ones struggling most on the tyres. If Redbull had more tyre troubles, it'd have been them with this test. Weather (sp), it would have been in this years car with current race drivers, I can't say.

Agree, Merc aren't in F1 to go racing. Merc are in F1 to sell road cars.

Pirelli aren't in F1 for racing, they too are in F1 to sell tyres.

They have to project the best image possible to a worldwide TV audience. Tyres falling apart isn't doing that.
Those who go to the races aren't important as they are ay fraction of the target audience.

I love F1, but I also understand what it is for. Not racing for racings sake imo.

Almost, I think to be properly fair, it has to be one team per race with the next race's tyres.

The tires used were Canada spec. So every team should have the same access to test those tires, in the same venue (Barcelona), nothing more, nothing less.

That's pretty fair. Less logistically problematic too.

Your lucky I haven't started a thread on tyres themselves, I mean, looking at research I can found (haven't even looked yet) into the chemistry and psychics of compounds, wear and grip.
