ESPNF1:
[...]
In an interview in the Sunday Times, Ecclestone said the F1 board gave him its backing at a meeting in Geneva at the end of last week. "Everyone voted to support me staying on and running the business," he said. "The board agrees I should stay unless I'm convicted."
"I still don't know what the German prosecutors think. I wish I was guilty - it would be much easier. The charges are a complete load of rubbish."
As has often been the case in recent years, speculation over his likely successor was doing the rounds last week after the news came from Germany that public prosecutors were preparing to start court action against Ecclestone. The name of Sainsbury's chief executive Justin King, whose son drives in Formula 3, emerged as a leading candidate.

Ecclestone, however, was typically dismissive. "I've never met him and there's no way I'm going to," he told the newspaper. "I'll work till I drop and then they can bury me in my bus."

Not wanting to divert the topic but I must ask, why is there so much hatred for Bernie? I'm really quite new to the sport so don't really know much of the back story.

It's just a cumulative effect of years of spouting either demented nonsense or misogynist or fascist bs.

We're all tired of his nonsense he spouts these days. Nobody can deny the good things he's done for the sport. Over the last few years he's just gone senile!

I don't really hate the guy...he's annoying at times and some stuff he says sounds downright stupid, but I just keep telling myself if this guy didn't exist, F1 would have never existed.

BUTTON, NO WAY!! We want someone with a bit of integrity this time, no more behind the scenes wheeler dealing and backstabbing. A nice open person. I can't think who at the moment, they're not easy to find.

Sir Frank is a bit old for the job plus he is looking at retiring.

Nikki Lauda?
Flavio?
Mosley?
Craig Pollack?
Schumacher?
Dennis Richards?

Nikki Lauda? Death of F1
Flavio? What a SHOW it will be! Rename it to Destruction Derby:twisted:
Mosley? Pitbabes being paid higher, extra curricular activities..why not?
Craig Pollack? Who's this.
Schumacher? Nah...he'd probably try driving again and then retire again when 55
Dennis Richards? Who's this.
Ron Dennis? Best option from the list, though I don't think he'd be too keen on it.
