who the heck want's a 'CHEAT' on their team??

Your Fav team Ferrari didnt mind having a "cheat" on there team. MS has said it time and time again, "You have to do whatever it takes to win".

An attitude I personally love. It isn't about taking part, it's about winning.

As for Alonso, I'm not keen on the bloke but he drove a magnificent race. He'll need to have 17 more magnificant races to build a decent total, although if anyone can do it, it's him. As a racing driver, he's pure class.

texasmr2, there are examples like Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton, Honda, McLaren... which were proved that they were cheating, and nothing of the previous examples had had the same bad reputation as Alonso has nowadays in certain media or in certain supporters.

I think that there are some people who had crucify Alonso (I'm not saying neither that this isn't bad nor you're one of these people), and doesn't mind the Schumacher, Hamilton or Honda cheats.

I couldn't stand the way Alonso went about his racing last year, but as far as I'm concerned he's always been a brilliant driver and I really hope this nonsense can be left in the past. He drove a great race today and showed some of his classic racer's instincts in the battle with Kovaleinen.

The crane was legal as the rules stood then.
Hungary qualifying he disobeyed team orders(and later apologised) but that does not constitute cheating

This discussion depends on the view that each one wants to see. One person can say that Hamilton hasn't cheated and another person can say that Alonso hasn't cheated (is the same as you said). Or another can say that both of them has cheated. Each one have an opinion.

I only want to add that in the first situation that you said (about the safety car), I think it was absolutely prohibited. In a safety car situation a driver mustn't change speed sharply. FIA put this rule when Fernando Alonso did it in some situations one and two years before, when it was legal, and the stewards thought that it had to change. I know this because on TV commentators said that with this rule Alonso had lost one of his weapons when the safety car enters on the track.

Uhhh ohhh mmm hold on I gotta wipe the tear's from my eye's!!! WHATEVER !!! One thing new member's such as you do not realize is some of the member's you are TRYING to feeding 'crap' to have been watching F1 for 25+yr's and have seen and heard it all ok!

The ONLY reference you have is what you have witnessed with the last 1 MAYBE 2 season's. How about actually watching the car or team's car you support and studying it's handling, braking and acceleration out of the corner's and the tire wear and then make an opinion?

Support the team or team's you like but dont blatantly ramble off idea's and opinion's without atleast a decent and well informed retort.

i dont understand the meaning of this post? alonso hasnt been in f1 too many years, and as far as i know, the 'cheating' is of last year only, ive been watching properly since DC and hakinen were in the mclaren

and i wasnt refering to renault, just fa? you lost me in that post!

tex does that sometimes i dont know what slant he thought you were portraying but i get what you meant al4x .if fernando didnt hold up lewis he wouldnt have been down 5 grids spots and would have either won or came second to Lewis in Hungary scoring those few extra points which in the end he lost the title by 1 point.

When lewis changed speed, he went way off line away from the other drivers to do so, he did it in atrocious conditions because webber would not keep back and leave a safe space(he had been radioing the team about this). There was never any intent to cheat here and the accident was caused by vettel's loss of concetration

I think that's the nub of the matter - the non-motorsport press have a sheep-like instinct over their narrative, and if Hamilton was easy to cast as the hero last year then Alonso was easy to cast as the villain. As I said, hopefully this year Alonso will get back to simply driving his nuts off and realise that he's not a terribly good politician.
