Ferrari - Had decent pace but engine reliability looks to be a BIG issue. Also I can't help but think that Raikkonen's and Massa's off-track moments might be in part down to a not terribly drivable car. Will need to pull a few rabbits out of hats by Friday. 3
BMW Sauber - surprising pace, good in both qualifying and the race. Heidfeld's strategy was effective but Kubica seemed to lose ground late on before being shunted out. 7
Renault - Good point-scoring start with Alonso looking much more confident and back to his fighting best. Piquet looked a bit out of his depth. 6
Williams-Toyota - Car looks handy to challenge all but the top two, especially the way Rosberg's now driving. Nakajima made another rookie error but still scored points. 8
Red Bull-Renault - Car seems more reliable but Coulthard's race pace was a little disappointing. Both drivers a little past their best but can still do the job. 5
Toyota - If it wasn't for Glock's spectacular accident you wouldn't really have noticed they were in the race. 2
Torro Rosso-Ferrari - Vettel looks quick, Bordais looks canny, and the car is still quick enough to threaten the points. A great performance given the team's modest size, engine failure was unjust. 8
Honda - Letting Rubens pass a red light was a bit amateur-hour but aside from that the team seems to have made good progress and Barichello has silenced a few doubters. 7
Super Aguri-Honda - At least they got there. 8 (for effort)
Force India-Ferrari - Hard to say after both cars went out so early, but there are signs Fisichella may surprise in one or two races this year. 5
McLaren-Mercedes - An almost perfect start to the season. Pace to match and beat Ferrari, no real mistakes and only one minor reliability issue early on in the weekend. The goodwill within the Hamilton-Kovalainen pairing could not be more in contrast to last year. Without bad luck on the Safety Car could and should have taken a 1-2. 9.5
