I remember what he did. But my worst skill in life is remembering the places and dates of old races. seriously I'm starting to forget what happened in Australia this year.! One that springs to mind is obviously Canada 2011 (?). But I hesitate bringing that up incase of upsetting Hamilton fans and being forever shunned.

He's undoubtably put in some good drives. Best as you say not to mention the one where he took out his two main competitors and smooched the stewards, apart from that it was good. I can't think of a stunning drive, but that may be because I don't enjoy his racing style as much as some other drivers styles. I guess without all the shenanigans id think of him as a Coulthard, steady point scorer, but he acts and talks as though he's a Hakinen and its always everybody elses fault when it doesn't work out, but its his input when it works. I think his window of operation is way too narrow to be considered with the best. But I wouldn't dislike him for having a driving style that wasn't my favourite. The dislike comes from the other stuff.

I do feel upset remembering Canada...where Button punted off the faster Hamilton and Alonso into the wall....and had around 3-4 safety cars help him get through the field and win the race on the last lap when Vettel slid of the road. That was indeed a great drive. Pity the stewards had taken a vacation during this race though.

Nope. Probably overtook a couple of Caterhams and Marussias twice...but not the entire field. There weren't many cars left anyway.

Also, we know people don't like Button, must we here an insult every time someone wants to bring him up? I mean, by this point, you guys are just seeing what you want to see, and repeating the same points, which detracts from why other people have mentioned Button and the like. It's getting pretty well, unsocial able.

I want to try to answer this in a reasonable way. I can only really speak for myself , but I think I can maybe touch on why a lot of Hamilton fans have a dislike and a lack of respect for Button. But firstly, dont think its restricted to this forum. Take a look at other forums and comments following articles concerning Button. The feeling is pretty widespread.

So...... I was never very bothered about Button before his pairing with Hamilton, so it's from that point on really that my observations come. I found him to take every opportunity to build himself up at the expense of Hamilton.Button the tyre master,Button the strategist, Button the team leader, Button the real number one, Buton the deliverer of superb races, and for some reason I still can't fathom, Whitmarsh was complicit in this. It wasn't done openly, it was done with a smile here and a dig there, and it was relentless.
It's been said of Hamilton fans that they just didnt like Button because he out scored Hamilton in 2011. Well certainly for me that's not the case. I have no issue with Rosberg out gunning Hamilton at his own game- qualifying.
I perceive Button to be so concerned about appearing to better his team mates that he has scant regard for the team or the team mate. It's happening sooner than I expected with Perez, but I fully expected it.
Having used these, what I see as underhand, ways to gain an advantage, it is hardly surprising that fans of the driver on the receiving end now take a certain delight in seeing his demise. Particularly his manipulation of media, coming back to bite him on the bottom. As I've said before, I'm not proud of having these negative feelings, but I've got them
Not so with Mclaren, just Button. I am sad to see a great team struggling, but the writing was on the wall last year and the year before. It was pointed out on this forum but dismissed out of hand when suggestions were made that all was not well at McLaren. And I don't think it will be rectified easily with the current two drivers and the staffing structure in place.

But I don't think that explains why people can't let it go, and why people can't stop bad mouthing him. That just explains why you dislike him. And I don't think that's what Vaptin asked.....

Martin Whitmarsh, McLaren's team principal praised Button's win, believing that it was one of the finest performances in Formula One:
I think it was one of the best wins in the history of F1, let alone his. There were punctures, he had to change the front wing, and from 21st I don't know how many times he had to overtake people. He just drove fantastically well. He kept focused. He applied as much pressure as he had to to get past and really did a fantastic job. This was 90 per cent him and 10 per cent the car. Thus, we express our feelings more about Button since he adores the sound of his own voice being recorded whenever his boss doesn't force him to get in the car and work for his salary.

The stewards did not impose a penalty on Button for his collisions with Hamilton and Alonso, having judged that no driver was to blame in either incident. Hamilton agreed with the stewards that Button did not intentionally collide with him, and although he felt he was alongside Button at the time, later reflected that "he probably hadn't spotted me". He went on to praise his teammate's race as "an utterly fantastic performance, from a truly great driver."

No that doesn't help. Just sounds like more thinly veiled excuses to slag him off one more time.

It could easily be Rosberg rather than Button.
