Bit worried to see both Mercs thick end of a second off the top times, even if a few tenths is fuel.

But....

Qualifying on pole obvs dosnt work for them so maybe this is the way to do it :D

Force India seems to be faster than merc still :(

More emphasis on long runs hopefully...they probably just care about getting into Q3....a top 5 position for both guys will suffice. The race is where it all counts!

As RC has pointed out, qualifying on the front row is of huge benefit here at the Circuit de Catalunya. And Merc have done precisely that. Great job from Nico Rosberg especially!

However, it can't be ignored that the Merc's race-pace has often been lacking this season, and in previous years too. I wonder how this will factor into the race tomorrow, knowing that Alonso, Vettel and Raikkonen are likely to come on strong? :scratchchin:

lets hope Mercs race pace is up to it. I felt so sorry for NR last time out.

Mercedes themselves didn't expect this sort of qualifying pace...since their emphasis even in P3 was on the race. We'll see if the effort comes to fruition tomorrow.

I know... it was heartbreaking. I think because of the temperatures and their focus, he'll only drop down three or four places tomorrow. :hehe:

Just kidding, Mercedes 1-2!

Merc could be on for a 1-2 tomorrow, their race pace (in practice simulations) looked better, and the revised hard tyre compound with slower degradation will help them.

Yeah I was thinking, after Spain things are looking up for Merc fans. Both drivers can do great at Monaco, Lewis is a specialist in Canada, and GB is home ground for him. Let's hope tomorrow puts them in great stead for the next 3!

Yeah well done Nico, that was ace!
No real need for Lauda's comments. ' Well done, especially to Nico because Lewis has already done it' they've Both already done it! Front row lock out, I'm delighted. That's all he needs to say really.
Well I'm delighted. Just hope as others have said that the cars hold out, I think Alonso will be strong.

What's wrong with Lauda saying "Well done, especially to Nico because Lewis has already done it"? Seems a pretty innocent comment to me. He's just pointing out that both drviers have scored a pole this season. Can't see any malice or anything negative in wht he says.

As I said, they've both already done it, Lewis and Nico have both already had a pole for Mercedes, so it was a pointless and incorrect statement to make.
