Well, that race was well worth getting up for, I just woke up for the second time hehe. Lewis just dominated, hopefully he can take that through to Malaysia and really start building a lead in the Drivers Champ. Glad to see Ferrari screwing up. The driver I felt most sorry for was Bourdais. What a drive for a debut in a Toro Rosso! But all in all it was a really good race, def. the best I've seen at Albert Park, plenty of overtaking and a ridiculous number of DNFs. I'd forgotten how much I miss F1, but this has whetted the appetite again. Bring on Malaysia!

Well I still disagree. Ferrari was quickest in pre-season testing and the mistakes that Kimi made were his mistakes not Ferrari's. Clearly McLaren had a better day not a better car. Lewis better party hard and take this opportunity to celebrate because he will be getting used to coming second more often after Ferrari wins most races after this. Unless of course Ferrari has a bad race everyrace which is unlikely. :D

How is kimi's engine failing his fault? Massa made too many mistakes and was out of the race. Lewis got lucky in that he pitted just before the safety car came out and so was not caught out like kovi. Mclaren have got the momentum going into malaysia but Ferrari are definitely not out of it. BMW have got the 1 lap pace but not so sure about the race pace to win a grand prix. Great job Nico!

That is the unbiased race report from a neutral. :D

You've seen from qualifying and the race that pre-season testing has shown us nothing. BMW are faster than we all expected, as are Williams and Toyota.

Regardless, Kimi had two major problems with his car, one in qualifying and one in the race. Massa had one in the race, though whether that was a reliability issue or damage from his shunt with DC is something to wonder about. Their car may well be better but, from one race performance, it can't be judged.

You are glad Ferrari stuffed up hey? Well I will be glad when Lewis Hamilton and McLaren stuff up as well like they did last season and I will be furher happy when McLaren becomes Mercedes and no more Ron Dennis. Whichever way you have it F1 is all about Ferrari and in the end we will prevail and not your "kid yourself hero" Lewis Hamilton. Have a nice day. :)

To those of you that hope teams mess up and then are happy when they do, you should be ashamed of yourselves. This is a sport where everyone is supposed to respect each other. It is not football...

Well maybe because Kimi had to push harder because he started 15th. Remember what happened to Alonso in the Italian GP of 2006. He was penalised for some bullpoo reason, had to start 10 places back from what he really qualified, had to push harder and as a result blew his engine.

I think Massa ran out of fuel. With this one I have to say, "Massa you idiot!"

the torro rosso (with a ferrari engine) also had to retire because of a engine blowup. I may be reading too much into this but clearly without ross brawn and jean todt this ferrari team aint what it used to be!

Passion makes that respect thing hard. Sorry I just cannot help myself even if I do not mean it. I guess that is why football is the way it is as well.

I've just read the ITV site and apparently Ferrari are citing engine problems as the reason for both the retirements of their cars, so that can't be good for them.

A lot of the reason that football is the way it is is that people have this idea that they must be right and that their team is the best. Not because of passion, but because they feel it's all part of being tough and whatnot. There are many passionate football fans, but there are also many idiots. It is the idiots that spoil the sport. And that's fans AND players, I might add.

That was a great drive from Lewis, kept his head cool all the way through. Nice to see Rosberg finally get on the podium and for both the Williams cars to come home in the points. :D

If you want your team to win why shouldn't AKR want a Mclaren to retire? It's all part of what makes F1 great. Rivalry between fans is a good thing as long as it is within the rules.

A couple bitter Ferrari fans in here.
Despite what you say Kimi had every opportunity to get up onto the podium today (until his engine failed ofcourse). Everytime he made a mistake (and he made a fair few today), he was saved by a safety car. Lewis won the race comfortably today and made a faultless race whereas Kimi was off the track twice because he had lost the ability to overtake over the preseason. He had a fast car and should have done a lot better with it today then he did. He made a great start then screwed it all up because he couldn't pass Rubens.
Massa is just a complete muppet. The guy is reckless and is a complete joke.
Bottom line is that both Ferrari drivers had poor races today. Even before their cars gave way. Lewis is the man to beat at the moment, not kimi.

What I am saying is that if Ferrari drivers didn't run into trouble today they would of both defeated Lewis. In fact all the good potentials that could of won over Lewis Hamilton had a bad day. The Ferrari car is simply better than that of McLaren. Everyone has a bad day. What comes around goes around so it will eventually happen to McLaren and things will even out and the guy with the best car will win like last season. Don't worry this insignficant first race of the season means nothing.

Rubbish. The McLarens were on fire yesterday. Massa was going nowhere near as fast, when he wasn't causing crashes and when the engine was working. Besides, even if that weren't true, reliability is a big part of Formula One.

Hamilton drove very well all weekend, making only one minor mistake in qualifying. The McLaren looks fast and reliable and Hamilton has clearly got the speed. Kovalainen did very well and was robbed off second position. When he gets used to the team, he will be faster as well. It's down to Hamilton and Kovalainen to show that they are not just fast, but know how to test a car as well, so the team can develop the MP4-23 to its maximum potential.

I feel really pleased for Dennis. He's had a torrid time and has another couple of bad days ahead of him next weekend. So, to come to Australia after all of that and see his cars and Hamilton dominate, it at least put a smile back on his face for now.

Ferrari may need to call in some favours from the FIA and Ecclestone again if this Grand Prix was anything to go by.

I support the Brits in F1, not McLaren. As far as Lewis Hamilton goes, I dunno about you, but I wouldn't call having the best debut season in F1 history a 'stuff up.' You're closed minded if you think 'F1 is all about Ferrari.' They won the championship last season because McLaren was disqualified, so how you can assume that Ferrari are gonna win the championship with ease is beyond me. And thanks, I will have a nice day, because today it's an overall 10 points for the Brits and an overall...1 point for Ferrari which they only gained because of so many DNFs. Congratulations
