So we've established now the Williams cars had reliability bugs last night and Nico had a faulty differential throughout the day. Notice that Nico set 8th fastest time in P2 despite the problems and having had zero track time in P1, could the Williams' pounce a surprise in P3 and put the frighteners on Renault, Red Bull and BMW and maybe give the McLarens and Ferraris something to think about? Rosberg will no doubt.

BMW had some technical issues as well. It's all a shame because I was actually looking forward to seeing how fast both Williams and BMW more than what I was really interested in McLaren (because I think we all know McLaren would be there or thereabouts (along with Ferrari)). There's a quare gap between Ferrari and McLaren, and Red Bull (well, after first practice). If Williams are BMW aren't affected by their technical problems, I'd like to think they could slip into there somewhere.

Well, P3 was surprising to say the least!

It's a shame for BMW because I prefer them out of the manufacturer teams, but I guess that's the price to pay for having such an ugly looking car this year. Unlike Williams, BMW have had lots of problems over the winter and it doesn't look like they're over them yet.

I think the Honda and those green pants are the ugliest thing I've ever seen in F1 Many people in the garage including Roseberg, Williams, Toyota, and LH have said after Q that just as they expected and suspected, BMW is improved vastly from last year, Rosberg said a company like BMW doesn't go backward, they think carefully and plan out every little details. Their problems over the winter was vastly overplayed by the media, Steve Machet said that the "problem" BMW had was due to the f1.08 that's being much faster then the f1.07 and BMW is just figuring how to set up the car properly. Heidfeld and Kubica never complained about the car mechanically but rather with trying to setup and control the car because its much quicker and learning to drive it without all the electronic aids that's banned. Toyota Chief said if you look at the Q2 time and the morning practice, both BMWs was the fastest with a racing simulation setup. As for problems in Australia, no one expected the heat and then wind, many people experienced problems and some was not prepared for the heat and didn't bring on the necessary braking ducts (Webber), there will be a lot of braking problems tomorrow. I think BMW's weakest point will be the tires, it may not work properly with their chassis. I expect a few hiccups from them this year and I expect a couple of harder fights with the top two tteams then last year.

To be fair, the BMW a month or two ago looked a bitch to drive, but boy have they been doing their homework since. They've added some parts, learned how to set-up the car more effectively, and now the car looks bolted to the road. Had Kubica not have made that mistake on his flying lap, he would have been on pole for sure. Honda did very well and, like BMW, have been doing their homework. When the car first appeared it was rubbish, but they did some good work at Jerez the other week. Maybe they will be in for some good points this season after all. I have to say, I feel sorry for Webber. The guy never seems to get a break. Vettel put in a good performance as well. I was surprised at how tricky the Ferrari looks to drive. It's certainly very fast, but you see the McLaren drivers working a lot less on the steering wheel.

On the BMW's, you can make a fast car slow but you can't make a slow car fast. I bet you they went ballistic and designed a very fast, on the knife edge kind of car, they just don't know how to set it up yet lol...

Lewis was the class of the field although Heikki I believe had fastest race lap lewis was on another level.

Great to see BMW and Williams up there, I can see more of the same from them and possibly getting to the top step on occasion this year.
