Jeez I really can't believe I've fallen out of love with F1.

Since 1984 I've followed the sport , going most years ,Seeing such legends live as Senna,Prost, Mansell,Piquet,Schumacher ,Alonso & Vettel

But now it's a joke.Opening GP of the season Nico stay behind the slow moving Lewis(Racechick will have a conspiracy why Lewis had to lead).Vettel gets wrong for overtaking his teammate.Drivers told to go slow to conserve tyres.

Hang on here, time out .It's called GREAT RACE not drive like Miss Daisy and follow the leader.

I really can't believe just what a farce it is with number one drivers. The racing public have been robbed of good racing. No one seems to want to put two good drivers in a team and let them battle it out.

I guess McLaren will go down in history as the only sporting team that would do such a thing.

Well we do have team Vettel, team Hamilton.team Alonso etc

The only overtaking is false ie,tyre ware or DRS + KERS = win

If only we could get rid of downforce & go back to manual gearboxes ,for the chance of missed gears.Have total racing by real drivers that don't cry and want a race stopped when it rains

Rant over ,I'm gutted the sport i once loved is as good as dead.

I'd agree with the tyres and drivers crying when it starts raining part.

But the sport as a whole (team orders, etc) has taken a knock simply by becoming so big and commercial. The money involved is no joke anymore, greed overtook passion, auto manufacturers care more about results than racing and today is the result.

Look at it this way...if the sport has become too corporate, there are others out there. The ones I look out for to see some real racing from time to time is V8 Supercars or Moto GP (occasionally). F1 is now 30% racing, and 70% a drama series for men. :hehe:

I do watch moto GP  , always good to watch a sport with no team orders

Well lets all just pack up and go home.

Well put a good argument against my statement back please LRW ?

There is no argument to put back. You think F1 is now rubbish, and pointless. I'm not going to convince you otherwise.

I agree with you to some extent. Seeing top class divers driving round a 80% because they can't push the stupid tyres and seeing false overtaking because of DRS makes a mockery of the pinnacle of Motorsport.i have no conspiracy regarding Mercedes, I didn't like seeing Nico held behind Lewis, neither did Lewis, but I understand why Ross called it. Alonso appears to have the upper hand at Ferrari, but would he if Massa was suddenly consistently faster? Vettel seems to be in favour withthe big bosses at red Bull as does Button at McLaren. Don't be fooled into thinking everything is equal at Mclaren because they were allowed to race. "Button is the better driver, Button is a grown up . Perez went too far, you don't need to do that to a team mate "(but its ok if Button does it)etc etc. See? Perez has to work twice as hard in the face of this, not equal. It's a shame. There's nothing I'd like more than a level paying field and may the best man win. Because I've very confidence that my man would win. And every Vettel fan will be confident his man will win. And very Alonso fan will be confident his man will win . And Raikonen. And Button. And Perez. But sadly, for so many reasons, tyres, Drs, team politics, favouritism and many other things, we're deprived of an all out fight. How I'd love an all out fight!!

I think the sport is far from dead. You may want to rethink your adjectives. I agree certain aspects are artificial but it's all transient and rules/focus/direction all change over the years. Change is what keeps things from becoming stagnant. Did you love the sport when you saw drivers die on the track regularly?

You can say you no longer feel the same way about F1, that's fair and it's your right to feel that way. But the sport is far from dead.

One question, are you the same person you were 30 years ago or have you changed?

Thought I hadn't seen you around in ages, my friend! I hope you're well. :wavey:

It's sad to see you're falling out of love with F1. I agree with you that the situation at Sepang with both RBR and Merc was a bit silly. But hey ho, it's a team sport and team orders have always been there, haven't they?

What about the 50s, when supporting drivers in a team would have to literally hand their car over to the team's number 1? What about the whole myriad examples of team orders we've seen decade after decade. I'm obviously much younger than yourself, but ones that spring out to me are like Germany 2010, Austria 2002, Melbourne 1998... you can't get more blatant than some of those!

So for me, Sepang was nothing new or unexpected. Well done to McLaren for letting us have a good show in Bahrain though! :D

For me the real farce in F1 is the tire and DRS situation. The history of F1 is also filled with farcicles (my invented word) particularly of new technology being banned.

There is a fact that, as has been pointed out, there have always been team orders and Number 1 drivers in F1. In the oldern days of F1, you'd start out as a number 2 driver and have to prove yourself to be a number 1 driver. Prost was an example... but I think the best example would have to be Denny Hulme.

Really, what F1 needs to identify which direction they want to take the sport. If the sport is meant to be entertainment stye (read WWF style), then they should do us racing fans a justice and let us know and then I can go back to watching V8 supercars as Hammer said.

But if they actually want F1 to be about real proper racing, they would strip back to the basics of what makes a good race, and again I'd have to say that they can learn lots from V8....
