The best driver w/o a contract for next year is KR - with Lotus struggling to get the finances together to keep him and Red Bull presumably ready to jettison MW, the rumor mill is currently on overdrive.
If KR and SV were to pair up, that would be a mighty fine duo at the drinks company...

I don't think Vettel has the emotional make up to have a very quick team mate. Kimi on the other hand has been in that situation and did not let it phase him.

Since when have Lotus been in financial trouble?

I'd like to see MW go to ferrari if red bull cans him at the end of the season. honestly, mark webber should just think about the money and ride out as many years with the team as he can, cuz it's unlikely he'd make more money anywhere else, and barring joining ferrari, it's unlikely he'd have the opportunity to win many more races.

When the largest team sponsor logo on a car is your owner's company you're in a tenuous financial situation, or you're Red Bull. Kimi is going to want to get PAID next year.

Lotus F1 have nothing to do with Lotus cars, they are just a sponsor and I'm sure they could very easily get a big name. Don't forget Red Bull, technically Ferrari, McLaren, Torro Rosso, Force India and Caterham are all in the same situation of having their main sponsor also be their owner.

You miss my point. The biggest logo on the Lotus isn't a LOTUS, it's GENI. The bigger the logo, the more money you can get for that space. Ferrari, Mclaren, Mercedes all have their name on the car teeny tiny compared to their sponsors. That's why I singled out Red Bull as being the only one that breaks the rule.

Hell, you could cover the FIAT name on a Ferrari with a powdered donut.

ESPNF1: Porsche ruled out a recent entry in to Formula One because there is not enough relevance to its road car division.

Ahead of an entry in to LMP1 sportscars next year, Porsche's head of research and development Wolfgang Hatz admitted that a move in to Formula One was seriously considered. However, speaking to Autocar Hatz said the final decision not to submit an entry was a simple one because there is not enough crossover between Formula One and its road car development.

"We are a sportscar company," Hatz said at the Shanghai motor show. "Porsche has always lived for the transfer of racing to production cars. For that reason it was clear two or three years ago that we had to be back in high-level motorsport, and it was a choice between top-flight sportscars or Formula One.

"But the final decision was the only logical one. F1 was an alternative, but the road relevance is not there. Also, there is a lot of publicity around politics and tyres, but not so much about the engines and chassis.

"The aero, too, is incredible, but so extreme that it cannot result in any development in our road car understanding."

leave it to Porsche to articulate the difference between selling perception and selling reality.

I did not know that GENI's owner was the owner of Lotus. But what about Force India then, they've been in financial trouble for about 3 years.

And? What's your point in bringing Force India into the discussion? Look at what kind of driver they attract!
The point is that Lotus currently doesn't have the cash to keep Kimi if he gets an offer from a rich team like Red Bull.

The best kind!

I reckon they do, they seem happy enough together at the moment, I feel that Kimi wouldn't want to go play second place with a young German who now has a reputation in back stabbing teammates.

When did Kimi have a very quick team mate? I must have missed that season, or you talking about his rally years.

or is this in reference for Kimi being crap at one lap, and mostly losing qualification battles.

Anyhow, Vettel Kimi driver pairing would be great to see in action.

Speaking of silly...
New Jersey is back on track for a Grand Prix in 2014, promoter Leo Hindery has announced.

The Manhattan-skyline street race was due to make its debut on this year's calendar, but the organizers fell behind on road repairs and obtaining event permits.

Hindery told Sports Business Daily: "I think that Bernie (Ecclestone) made absolutely the right decision (to delay)."

But he added: "We are back under construction.

"We have the consents in place that we didn't have last fall, and we will quite comfortably put the race on, now probably in the mid-year of 2014 with (Ecclestone's) support."

F1 chief executive Ecclestone, however, indicated that New Jersey's problems were not only to do with approvals, or the repair and asphalting of the roads.

"It's a problem for the people that started this, and I think it's basically a financial problem," he said.
