Anyway, MrE could open the phone lines for the last half hour of the race and everyone votes for who they think the winner should be.

So it is in my view that DRS has gone too far in allowing overtaking, it was designed at a time when F1 was in a bit of a boring lull, and was created to spice the racing up during the all powerful aero overlord time of the sport. Now an overtake isn't exciting because if the driver who's just been passed is still within a second, they just get passed again on DRS; it's made the racing less exciting and predictable.

A solution would be to change when it can be activated, to being able to activate it when between 2 and 1 seconds behind, as a tool to 'catch-up' the driver ahead, and then let pure driving talent (how fresh your tyres are) do the actual overtaking. That way we all win!

It has, and drivers can be clever to the point of unfairness in using it. For example, if there are 2 DRS zones in a circuit Driver B can overtake Driver A in the first zone only for Driver A to repay the complement in the second.

Alternatively, Driver B can use the first zone to close-up behind Driver A and then do the actual overtaking in the second zone, hoping to be beyond DRS range by the time the first zone comes around again.

IMO they should eliminate DRS but be stricter about any attempt by the driver in front to block overtaking attempts.

Driver make more difference . That is what I want to see! That's what makes F1 for me.

DRS was needed when it was introduced. Overtaking was nigh on impossible. What isn't needed is 2 DRS zones, especially on circuits like Spa.

The FIA also don't seem to have perfected the correct activation positions. Some zones still allow drivers to fly past too easily. This should've been resolved after last year.

However, after the mammoth amount of complaints of a lack of overtaking in F1 throughout the 2000s, I feel that DRS is needed until something better can replace it. Andrew is right. Mechanical grip.

I've long been a defender of DRS. And the Bahrain GP was a prime example of why it is good for the racing.

All the drivers attacking into Turn 1 (Nico Rosberg especially) would not have had nearly as much opportunity had DRS not been there.
