Run for longer periods of time if you want weight loss. The speed doesnt matter too much, its more time on feet. About an hour running steadily(build up to it if you dont usually run that far). 2 or 3 times a week.

I agree.

And furthermore, the best time for running is in the morning. Just wake up, don't eat anything and go to run. Or if you have to eat something, don't eat much. That really burns fat.

I was once into bodybuilding and studied nutrition and muscle physiology so I have a fairly firm grasp on what is and is not necessary. Basically all one need's is to learn the mind/muscle aspect ie muscle or muscle group isolation.

For example bench press's, people think that they are specifically targeting the pectoral muscle's when in fact your working your arm's and shoulder's also. When you learn to target a specific muscle though the correct exercise your result's increase two-fold.

if you want to lose weight for racing dont get into weight lifting. it will only add muscle mass and muscle is obviously heavier then flab. so you might be in better shape but end up heavier.

Huge misconception and do you honestly know how hard it actually is to gain muscle mass? A natural (drug free) bodybuilder will be highly succesful if they can gain 3-5lb's in lean body mass (ie muscle) in a whole year.

I was not referring to a 'bodybuilding' routine but one that is high rep's and low weight, you can lift weight's to retain the muscle you have, without it you run into atrophy. I bet you will find that every racecar driver has some form of weight training in their regimen.

Simple.

Eat healthy, especially in the mornings.

Buy a heart monitor and raise your heart rate to above 140 bpm for an hour a day.

But mainly remember that because you are 15 your not your finised weight or shape, so be patient.

Well, Im not a professional bodybuilder. I drink beer and soda and walk the dog. If I need to lift 200 lbs I get a jack. But I think the rate of gaining muscle mass highly depends on the individual body type. I have had friends that beefed up over a summer and some that couldn't gain an ounce no matter what.

Yah the one's who could not gain muscle mass are ectomorph's and the people who gain muscle mass just by looking at weight's are mesomorph's.

Well I have lost 5 Kilos, 3/4 of a stone

My aim is to get down another 5 within a few months, and work on upper body strength.

Was quite worried this morning as I stepped on the scales to find myself almost a full KIlo heavier :(

Remember muscle is heavier than fat so if you're going for muscle building you may gain weight initially even though you will be getting fitter.
