Just as it says...

Simple fact is the mining and manufacturing sectors in the UK at the time were already being very heavily supported by central government. Cuts had to be made so that funds could be directed to more needy areas like education and health. If Thatcher hadn't closed them someone else would have had to or we'd probably be in far worse a position economically than we are now.

Brian Blessed sums it up nicely on Have I got News For You.

"Been out of a job 30 years because of Margret Thatcher.. I don't think so, GET A JOB YOU LAZY BA**TARD!!!"

Note: No font is large enough to portray Brian Blessed shouting.

I know people have freedom to express themselves but this is no expression against the government, I'm not sure who it is they're meant to be expressing themselves to tbh. It's not the current government, it's not her, maybe her family?

I'm not saying I agree nor am I saying there's a meaningful purpose to anyone other than the protesters. It's just their 'right' do protest, smart or not.

It reminds me of a protest that happened in Alaska where people were protesting against Obama's gun policies and how he'd take away their rights. This was back in 2010 so it precedes the world before Newtown and Sandy Hook Elementary. When asked to give one specific reason they were protesting, or asked to name one right that had been removed from them as gun owners by the Obama administration, or to name where the Obama administration differed on policy than the current laws, not one of the protesters could name one. That's because there was no difference and nothing had been taken away but their perception is what mattered, not the reality and it's perception that had them out there protesting, not reality.

That's the one flaw in a democracy that the vote of an idiot counts just as much.

In the words of Churchill;
No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed, it has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.

I will copy my facebook status as it sums up my feelings of the day:-

It does not matter if you think the person is good or bad. Going to their funeral and booing is not respectful and you should be ashamed of yourselves. That person is someones mother, wife, grandmother. How would you feel if people boo'd your mother as you took her to her final resting place.

Ummm, I don't think she's going to get better.

That's how religions are started.

In America, Dick Cheney would have been brought back to life by Halliburton.

The religon of Maggie Thatcher? I like the sound of that. It'll upset quite a few bitter twisted types that can't stop living in the past. :twisted:
