Funnily enough they're supposed to be the best of friends outside of racing. If I recall correctly Kimi said during his sabbatical that Vettel was the only driver he kept in touch with.

And boring story that I may have said here before but here goes. When Kimmi joined MacLaren we had big silver hands for the kids with Mikka on one side and David on the other. We were going to Sepang again so I blanked out Mikka and put Kimmi instead. The kids were wearing DC tees and at the Mercedes stand a marketing woman rushed over to ask where we got the 'Kimmi Hands' from My handy, dandy craft work made it look authentic. I still have the David/Kimmi ones but I wish I had kept an original David/Mika.

No, it's simply a strict adherence to a very well scripted race and tire strategy that brings these results for him plus the Lotus chassis is the kindest of all to the current tires. 21-race streak of scoring for Kimi as of now.

And no DNFs since his comeback. I don't think his offtrack excursion in Brazil was in the script though.
