I also cannont believe that the "Lewis Lovers" take time out of their day to bash Button. Is this not supposed to be a Forum for discussion and news? Talking about Jensons facial hair does not belong here. We all know that your golden boy has left, now just go and love him in the appropriate thread.

I am a huge lurker here but when I see s*** like this I have to say something! We are supposed to be lovers of the sport, of the racing, of the cars, the strategy. F1 is the pinnacle of motor sport and true fans see that. I also see that the drivers have to do corporate events and they dont like it but that is what getting a multi-million pound deal is.

Lewis now has to have a Blackberry, do you see any other fans mocking him because he is advertising something crap? No, most of us love F1 not just a driver and this constant knocking of MacLaren from Racechick, Hammer, Cooking and the other one is really getting on my nerves.

FFS, if you like F1 then you like it, stop with the childish comments, stop with the denegrating a particular driver because you dont like his beard. Stop trying to tell everyone else what to think.

Enjoy the racing, I know most of us do and we enjoy discussing things after but all the crap from Lewis fans towards MacLaren has got to stop. I like MacLaren, I like Button, Kimmi is my favourite though.

For the Lewis fans, you might get what you want but there is a thread for that, and it is not here :)

Are you even serious right now? If you were to look up posts in the General section about drivers and team personnel in Formula 1 which is NOT related to racing, it would probably consist of almost 50% of the total posts here. The people are part of the show, and we can damn well comment on team personnel if we wish. There's no rule saying every single post here has to be related to racing and that's it. However, we wouldn't want to drag things off topic, and I know I just did that a bit more here to reply to you so apologies for that. Lets continue talking about McLaren.

its a bunch of millionaires driving fast cars and most of them been paid millions for doing it. So I think you got it all wrong, its every fans and supporters basic right to mock and make fun of the other drivers they don't support. If the drivers can't take criticism they are obviously out of their league. And if some fans can't take it they are taking F1 far too seriously, it's just car racing and entertainment not the meaning of life itself.

and yes I enjoy F1, and don't like Hamilton as driver.

McLaren believes the updates it has brought to the Chinese Grand Prix have delivered the step forward it was hoping for.

The team is working flat out to recover from a troubled start to its 2013 Formula 1 campaign, but believes it is getting to the bottom of what has gone wrong with the MP4-28.

Having tried out a raft of developments at Shanghai, including new exhausts and sidepod configurations, sporting director Sam Michael said on Friday that McLaren's progress was encouraging.

"The signs are positive but we still have a lot of data to go through," he said. "From the driver comments and lap times it looked good, but we are controlled by data - and it always takes a bit of number crunching to work out what is what."

Michael hopes a major step planned for the Spanish GP can deliver the leap forward McLaren hopes for.

When asked by AUTOSPORT how far advanced the team's recovery was, Michael said: "Pretty far, but like everything it takes time.

"I think it will take the next two races, and by Barcelona we will have the next stage of that.

Jenson Button, McLaren, Shanghai 2013"There are lots of intermediate steps, some of them planned and some of them as a reaction to last couple of races."

Michael echoed remarks from Jenson Button that the team was still sure it could turn its 2013 challenger into title-winning machinery.

"We didn't go to Melbourne planning to come ninth, even with all those changes, but we are looking at it positively with this car," he said.

"The fact it is responding quite well to where we think we need to improve, hopefully we can show it is the right choice. Only time will tell."

Fingers crossed they arrive back in Europe (Barcelona) with a faster machine.

Never write off McLaren.

After Friday practice for the Chinese Grand Prix, Jenson Button says McLaren has not made the step forward it had hoped for this weekend.

McLaren has brought new parts to the car in Shanghai, including a new front wing, floor and exhaust, but despite three weeks of trying to address the problems it faced at the opening rounds, Button does not think there has been a major improvement.

"The feeling is that, while there are some improvements, it is not as much as expected at the moment," he said. "The issues with car are still the same issues we had with the car at the opening races and we need to sit down and look at the data. It's been a long day of testing for Checo and myself and there's a lot to look through. The car feels a little bit better in the areas where we are struggling but it's not a big leap forward, no."

Button finished both practice sessions sixth but does not think that is representative of where McLaren will end up this weekend.

"I don't think so. It was different people in front of us each time and I just think they are running different fuel loads. I feel that we are getting the best out of the car every time we get out there but we just don't have as much pace as we like, which is the same for most people on the grid when you compare them to the Mercedes. We came here with some new parts and everybody worked really hard to bring them here."

Asked whether he might struggle to make Q3, Button added: "I think the aim has to be Q3 for us. We were sixth in both sessions which looks great but there are so many cars that haven't shown where they are because they were running more fuel than us. Hopefully we can improve the car overnight."

The teams are racing with the soft compound tyre for the first time this weekend and Button said it had thrown up a few surprises in the opening two practice sessions.

"We did a lot of set-up work on the prime tyre [medium], which is very useful because we'll be using that tyre a lot in the race," he said. "But then you stick on the option tyre it transforms the car completely. On one lap there is so much more grip but then it grains front and rear and you lose a second a lap. I think there was a lot of complaining about the tyres at the last race but it's even more extreme here in terms of degradation.

"You would say that that tyre is more the feeling that we've had in the winter than at the first few races. So it's extreme degradation and from a tyre that's doing a 1:35 in qualifying spec, after eight laps in the race it is doing a 1:48. That's a big difference and we're slower than a GP2 car by about five seconds - that's strange to see and I think it's too much degradation."

I think Pirelli might've made a booboo and brought the wrong tyre as Lewis said.

Whoa, got out the wrong side of bed much :rofl::rofl:
In driver threads you can discuss anything about the driver. I think Jenson's facial hair is a great topic :hehe: don't like the hair but respect Jenson's choice to have it and admire him for having what he wants,I'm thinking about dreads myself, not everyone's cup of tea. But I like them. Is that ok?

Getting Gilette as a new Mclaren sponsor is actually news.

I love F1 too, have done for very many years.

I like Kimi too.

Fire away about Lewis and his Blackberry, doesn't bother me one iota.

Oh and I'll continue to talk about Lewis's dog Roscoe, because he's gorgeous...but feel free to disagree, all views Are welcome on this forum.
One last point. I don' t dislike Jenson because of his beard ( as I said,I quite admire him for being different about that) I dislike him because of the way he behaves and operates within a team.
Now lets all agree to enjoy the race this weekend :D in case you missed it in your rage, I said Jenson went well today! But I hope the Mercedes' beat him

Welcome to this forum!
unfortunately of late its gone down hill in many ways! Nothing will change from the few you mentioned, they seem to have nothing better to do in their life than to mock successful people doing what they love.
A few comments here and there is normal in this sport by fans, but the excessive and constant comments by the few is borderline fanatical!

Great race from Jenson today. This is what should've happened in Sepang!

Sergio has some catching up to do.

This is the quietest I've seen this thread after a GP for a long while. Only one post-race post (ok two now). :hehe:

What's to say really. Jenson did as well as he probably could in that car as it is at the moment and Sergio was poor. They all seem optimistic that things will improve, so lets wait and see.

I still wonder how bad is that car in reality. Okay, it's no race winner...but how many times has Lewis made Button look like a slow-a** in Shanghai, its almost a guarantee he would've ended up in front in the same car but how much further? No one knows...and this is McLarens biggest problem, they need an A* talent to gauge themselves against but instead they have a B+ and a new kid who's driving like a drunkard.

I guess it is hard for them to gauge things now. :hehe: driving like a drunkard. I bet they wish now they'd got Hulkenberg.

To be fair to Perez, the team used him as a guinea pig for testing the soft tyres. Why send him out in the middle of the race to do the soft tyre stint otherwise, he was ok till then.
Everyone knows he can nurse tyres so why not let him run till the last 6 laps on hards like Seb and Button when the fuel is lightest and a sprint is most effective?

The guy would have been better off at suaber than being the guinea pig for an average driver
