Well the grey ones are speakers , there's one in each corner and one above the tele, you can see it on the picture. They're surround sound. And one of the black boxes is another speaker and I think it's joined somehow to the grey ones, but the wires must go through the wall because you cant aee them. the black one's bigger than the grey ones and you can switch it on and off. There's a Panasonic DVD reorder. A Panasonic blu ray machine. A Sony audio/ video control enter ( not sure what that does but I think it's to do with volume) and a Sony one that looks like a video machine. And lots of controllers with thousands of buttons. I tell you, it's a NIGHTMARE!!
Oh and two little flashing white boxes as well  visible on the photo of boxes.

Next time I go to a technical seminar; please be the guest speaker (not the surround sound type)... :hehe:

And I bet that someone set up a universal remote control for you where you press one button to turn everything on, one button to turn everything off, one button to change the channel and one button to raise/lower the volume. God help you if it goes awry as you have to wait for someone to get home to fix it. :hehe:

Ask me how I know all of this RC.

WB do you have to wait for your SWMBO to sort it out for you?

On the contrary, I've trained my dog to change the channels, just have to have a treat near by.

BTW there is a dog in that picture, can anyone spot it? :hehe:

:yikes: What a faux pas.... no self respecting 'techie' would have all those remotes laying about. Logitech Harmony 650, GO! Run!

I was thinking the same thing :S but then again I have a bunch of remotes everywhere throughout the house.

Lounge has a 42" Panasonic FullHD Plasma TV /w Sky+ HD, Blu-Ray DVD Recorder (never used), Cheap PC running XBMC networked up to my main computer to have access to over 2TB worth of Movies, Wireless N+ AP/Switch Providing internet to YouView, TV, PC, Wii & A spare ethernet port for any other console what needs it.

Lean-To has a cheap bottom 32" HD Tv /w YouView, Cheap PC running XBMC, again networked up to main computer to have access to over 2TB worth of Movies, Wireless N+ AP/Switch Providing internet to YouView, TV, PC, Wii & A spare ethernet port for any other console what needs it.

My room currently has a messed up setup as I haven't sorted it out since things break... buy cheap temp replacements lol
7 Year old PC (Still able to play all pc games at max settings) /w 2x 22" HD Monitors, 5.1 speakers, logitech g15, razer diamondback, Wireless N+ AP/Switch, Another Generic Switch, 3 Toggle Connections allowing me to use my mouse, keyboard and screen(screens) on multiple towers without the need to unplug anything. Surface RT Tablet, Google Samsung Nexus 10, Google LG Nexus 4, HTC Desire Z...

Everything does more than I need, I could make it so much better but costs too much money and I'm too lazy >_<

EDIT: Did anyone else find RC explaining tech extremely freaking cute? lol

Is it that ball of fur between the two black seats on the left side of the pic? Btw, nice houses you guys got there...I'm still dreaming of getting my first landed property. Condos don't cut it like houses do.

RC, please tell me you are winding the guys up, and you are not actually that technically ...erm.... challenged.....?

"not sure what that does but I think it's to do with volume" -

She's serious... lol

Looks to be a a Netgear router + Netgear switch, they're nearly as easy to spot design wise as Linksys/Cisco :P

If it wasn't for people like her, a lot of us would be out of a job. SO KNOCK IT OFF! :whip: What if everyone could configure their home routers to disable known virus attack ports or block out the neighbor's MAC address???

That's not what I'm saying though. I wouldn't expect most people to know how to do that. I would, however, have thought most people could identify their own router/modem.....and not just know them as the two little flashing white boxes:confused:

Yes that's what I thought, what's the bet the switch isn't needed?

The reason it's confusing is because it doesn't work the volume for most things, for most things you work the volume on one of the different controllers, just normal volume. But if you do certain things ( things like blu ray and maybe other stuff) then you have to turn the normal volume right down low and switch on the black speaker, then go to that thing that I think has something to do with volume and turn it up....so it definitely has something to do with volume, but not always.
And the white boxes that flash I have no idea about, but I don't have to touch them to make anything work. I've asked. Their either rooters or hubs
No wind up LRW, this stuff is ridiculously over complicated. I could design a remote that would sort it. I have the design in my head right now. But I guess such a remote wouldn't meet the needs of the techie majority( I reworded that bit to be polite :) )
