I've had my system since 2007 so it's a bit long in the tooth but still a good platform today.

Panasonic 42" inch TH-42PH9 professional commercial plasma monitor, it's the screen only, no tuner no audio, etc.
Orb Audio "people's choice" system.
Denon AVR-1707
Roku XDS

Looks like a nice setup to me... no point going too overboard as in most cases, you can not use the A/V tech to it's fullest extent!

My specs:

40in RCA L40FHD41YXB HDTV // Need something larger now we live in a much larger home.
Onkyo HTR-380 A/V receiver (110w per channel) 5.1
Pioneer SP-FS51-LR floorstanding speakers (Front L/R)
Pioneer SP-C21 center speaker
Pioneer SP-BS21-LR bookshelf speakers (Rear L/R)
Onkyo SKW-380 (came with A/V Receiver) // Not the greatest subwoofer ever, but it does a reasonable job.
Sony Playstation 3
Core i3 / 4GB / Intel HD Graphics / HDMI out HTPC

All devices connect through the amp via HDMI

Here's a question, in America electrical power outlets are set about a foot off the floor. Why do you guys have your outlets in the middle of the wall? Aesthetically it looks :vomit: I hate wires!

I think its the exception to the norm, of all the houses/apartments I have lived, exactly none have had power outlets vertically in the middle of the wall, they are usually 8 - 12in off the skirting/baseboard!

Apparentlly this place was designed with disabled people in mind. It is annoying yes

And what I have now is plenty, the sub is a good 500w and never goes above half volume, tbh I could have easily had a lesser one but like matching

Also I would need a better amp with higher level speakers
I do love monitor audio speakers

The Yamaha amp is so nice for music. It's 2.0 to 5.1 is very good

The only places I've seen electrical/phone sockets any higher up the wall (excluding kitchens and bathrooms) are in offices, warehouse/workshops and properties designed with consideration given to disabled people.

Rest easy, they're relatively easy to move closer to the skirting board. :)

Would you like to enlighten us on what those black and grey boxes are, RC?!?!...

Make, Model & Serial Number, also your address and telephone number... :D

It's like someone asking what car I drive and my reply is "a red one" :hehe:

Well the grey ones are speakers , there's one in each corner and one above the tele, you can see it on the picture. They're surround sound. And one of the black boxes is another speaker and I think it's joined somehow to the grey ones, but the wires must go through the wall because you cant aee them. the black one's bigger than the grey ones and you can switch it on and off. There's a Panasonic DVD reorder. A Panasonic blu ray machine. A Sony audio/ video control enter ( not sure what that does but I think it's to do with volume) and a Sony one that looks like a video machine. And lots of controllers with thousands of buttons. I tell you, it's a NIGHTMARE!!
Oh and two little flashing white boxes as well  visible on the photo of boxes.
