If it's a black flag, you will see Alonso turning into the garage and shutting down the car. Black flag = DSQ.

It can be either I believe.

Clearly you werent watching Ted Kravitz' explanations of the flags in the Sky buildup ;)

Clearly as I don't have Sky. I did look up another source before commenting.

It's a bit early, but Ferrari may find itself in a bit of a dilemma, perhaps it's a good problem to have, but I would love to see actual proof of what the tifosi always claim, that numero uno support at the scuderia will always go to the driver in front for the championship.

Ferrari's Felipe Massa sees himself as a championship contender this year after making a solid, if not spectacular, start to the 2013 season.

Massa has continued his resurgence from last year, out-qualifying his team-mate Fernando Alonso at both rounds this season, but due to difficulties in the races only managed fifth- and fourth-place finishes. He last won a race in 2008 but believes he is in with a chance of more victories this season and a shot at the title if Ferrari continues to make progress.

The really good part about reading this is it is clear Felipe has confidence. In the end, this actually helps Nando because in modern F1 you need both drivers performing (taking serious points) if you are to win either championship.

I'm always amazed at people even slightly doubting Ferrari's desire to win. I just keep pointing to the not so distant past when Ferrari gave a double world champion the most extreme of team orders - and he dutifully obeyed.

Is that the truth though? I read that and there's lot of talk about April fools and all that but I highly doubt it. As I always said, Ferrari is Ferrari and I can't be too surprised about their ego and vanity.

I thought it came out some time ago that they had a veto? I was certainly aware of it. It's inconceivable that the FI can run such an unfair operation. But they do. And they get away with It, so I guess they'll go on doing it.

Max Mosley jumped into bed with whichever team was leading. He had a spell with Williams then McLaren then he moved onto Ferrari and then onto Brawn and then Luca di Monty set him up to be caught with his pants down and we were finally rid of him.

I put the pants down exposure firmly in Ron's court. And applaud him for it!

This happened right after McLaren got shelved off their WCC points and a 100million fine...who has more motive for this, Dennis or Monty? Think, there's a clue somewhere.

Interesting article from Omnicorse speculating that the F138 has FRIC.

wrote:">Even Ferrari has the suspension with the FRIC

When you say you think Mercedes FRIC. Were the technicians of Brackley deliberately to allow filtering of information about existence of Front and rear interactive control silver arrows last year. In addition to devoting time and resources to the system stalled front wing (which has never given great results), directed by Bob Bell continued to develop the interactive suspension hydraulic control units and apparently are beginning to reap the rewards of hard work.

Image

FRIC PROMOTED BY ALDO COSTA The idea in Britain was brought by Aldo Costa, Chief Designer of the F1 W04, arrived at the Court of the three-pointed Star from Ferrari. Those with good memories will recall that after the ban of electronically controlled active suspension was Minardi to attempt the route of a simpler trim adjuster hydraulic control units, thanks to which it was possible to stabilize the ground clearance of the car at different loads.

THE IDEA MINARDI IS TREDOZI The concept had been drafted by Gabriele Tredozi, bubbly head designer of many innovative ideas on machines near Faenza, but technical manager was Aldo Costa, now the flagship of Mercedes technician. OmniCorse.it, at the Malaysian Gp, had published an image Effe 1 Tech of the machine by Lewis Hamilton in the box showing plumbing connections in front of the body to recharge FRIC.

INTERACTIVE HYDRAULIC SUSPENSION The Mercedes system operates on the third element of the front suspension and the rear: the principle of communicating vessels, the car is less sensitive to sudden changes in acceleration load (when tends to raise the muzzle) that under braking (when recording a sinking of the front), finding a balance that benefits to the better exploitation of aerodynamics who needs stability for expressing the data seen in the wind tunnel. This system is perfectly legal because it is all mechanical and does not use any help that would be banned by regulations.

THE MERCEDES IS NOT THE ONLY The Mercedes, however, would not have been the first team of Circus to take this interesting technical topic: box entries say that other top teams have developed similar systems in silence. First and foremost the Lotus that has become a special observed after Kimi Raikkonen's success with E21 to the Australia Grand Prix.

THE LOTUS HIDING SOMETHING In television images has not escaped the opponents that the car of Enstone crept in certain situations with the bottom on the asphalt, even when the fuel load was dropping and the lightening of car would result in the gradual increase of the height from the ground. The malicious claim that on E21 is securely tucked away a real asset Checker will optimize not only the car's aerodynamic performance, but also the duration of Pirelli tires that would be less stressed than other f. 1, allowing the Lotus more aggressive racing tactics, with a pit stop less than the best competition.

FERRARI DEVELOPS ITS OWN SYSTEM The team led by James Allison, though, is not the only one. We use the transitive property figuring that if Aldo Costa had knowledge of hydraulic control suspension at the time of the Minardi and reiterated, in a more modern, the same solution at Mercedes, may have tested the concept in the long stay at the top of the Ferrari Technical Director.

WE ARE SPECIALISTS IN MARANELLO We are saying nothing more than stating the obvious: in fact the FRIC of Ferrari (the system is called in the same way also the Cavallino technicians) would be even more advanced than what we've seen so far on the Mercedes. And development of it would play very F138 on this aspect: so far the Cavallino mechanics were able to keep the system that's on red. According to rumors, the racing Department also would have its own path which would not be the result of "thought" by Aldo Costa, but of different experiences gained by specialists who have arrived at Maranello to implement these concepts.

THERE ARE INTERESTING TO DISCOVER SECRETS The impression, then, is that under the bodywork of the car still hide very interesting to discover secrets and, perhaps, even those States that have actually already FRIC systems use them and for longer than you can imagine. It's hard to believe that Red Bull Racing and McLaren remained out on a topic that can be very useful to run the "thermal" mini skirt that you generate with the hot exhaust blowing between the side of the bulkhead and the rear wing (ben "protected" from air intakes of carbon brakes now became real flow increasingly complex design). But Sauber and Toro Rosso to say the other teams had already developed their concepts, but they preferred to keep your mouth well stitched ...

NEW INTERPRETATIONS ON THE EDGE? It appears as a technical aspect of the single seater interacts with many others, contributing to the overall competitiveness of the car: the MONEY is a face of research and development. The teams seem to have found an effective way to make more stable behavior of single seater without penalising the tires. Expect, therefore, to discover increasingly complicated systems that interpret the strict constraints of FIA rules so more creative.

IN MONEY, THERE IS ALSO THE MASS DAMPER? The Lotus has in "belly" specialists who remember the notorious mass damper, the vibration damper belatedly banned by FIA on Renault single-seater with which Fernando Alonso won two world titles in 2005 and 2006. And Bob Bell, dt Mercedes, arrived at Brackley from Enstone. In short there is something boiling in the pot: a Shanghai on weekends there will be eyes more attentive than usual to scrutinize the machines that will be protagonists of the Gp of China ...

Some analysis of the F138's new front wing according to Omnicorse (bot translated)

wrote:">There is a new Ferrari front wing bulkhead

In addition to free the second bonnet air intake for cooling the gearbox oil cooler and turning vanes with three profiles, the Ferrari has mounted in Shanghai also has a new front wing side plate.

TWO BLOWS ON THE BULKHEAD So far we saw openings that allow the flow of food from the outside to the inside of the front wing, but in China the "sidewalk" outside the main profile appeared two more blows that bring air below.

STREAM POWER It might be worth clarifying how come on the current car of f. 1 there is a flowering of the various blows the front wing flap: according to explanations that gave us a Circus, the aerodynamic requirement was necessary with the growing knowledge of flexibility.

Image

IT WORKS WHEN THE WING DESCENDS The front wing load increases, in fact, falls towards the ground to produce a vertical force majeure: the fact is that if the plane goes down decreases the amount of air that can canalize under profiles and you run the risk that the aerodynamic efficiency you can turn in drag (aerodynamic drag).

DO I NEED A FILLING This is why the blowing are useful to overcome lack of supply for the stream, energizing the air in most interest points for a good "fill". It is a very complex work of micro-aerodynamics that aims not only to give the necessary stability to the front, but it is useful to address an increasingly effective flow in the rear to the rear diffuser.

THE AIR FROM OUTSIDE TO INSIDE And you also understand why the front wing mounding show these openings that take the air from outside and carry strap inside the wing.

WILL EXTREMES RESEARCH Red Bull Racing and McLaren were the first teams to develop these concepts last year: now seem to have lost the advantage they had gained in this field, even if they are pushing forward the search for these concepts to the extreme that now have been acknowledged by everyone in the paddock.
