There's something wrong with this whole thing imo.
Why can't the bloody teams just let their drivers race. If they take each other off, so what.

You never got this nonsense in the good old days and especially not at the second race of the season.

Webber should have turned his engine up and raced Seb to the line imo. Sod the team.
Mercedes should have fuel both cars to run at maximum power so that Hamilton and Roseberg could race too.

I wonder what Bernie thinks about all this. I understand teams having team orders at the end of the season,
but this was round 2.

What a lot of people seem to forget is the fiscal implications of loosing both cars in a crash were you could easily get a one-two.

I dont care about Redbull's problems, but the problem with Merc was that there was not enough fuel for them to race at full power.

Also people seem to forget these two DID race each other, and exchanged places twice...and then the call came in to stop racing and bring the cars home. Imagine you're in Brawn's place with Toto Wolff watching your every step, it's all about results results results and this is the biggest result Merc got in a weekend. Would you allow a chance to throw it all away?

Well you did. Austria 2002 and Melbourne 1998 will always be the worst example, but in the 50s, team-mates were expected to give up their cars for the number 1 driver if retirement befell the team's star driver! Sometimes drivers lost wins through helping their team-mate in such fashion.

F1 is a team sport and team orders have ALWAYS been there.

No rose-tinted specs on this subject please! :hehe::wink:

If you ditch the WDC, at least 70% of the fanbase will say byebye. If you move to single car teams, are you going to supply the missing 9 teams we need to make a 20 car grid? :hehe:

Bad boy/douche... The ones I've dated are practically the same thing :hehe:

I think MW did well in interview not to blow a fuse... Would have made slightly better viewing if he had had a major hissy fit though :D

Ahaha, aww bless :(

I couldn't agree more, he did well I know I wouldn't of been as calm as him in that situation lol.

Maybe you're in the wrong sport...boxing, MMA, rugby maybe?

Cagefighting sounds about right.

Yep! A podium punch-up would've been fascinating.

I put £10 on Webber winning, Lewis would blatantly help Webber beat the s*** out of Vettel.

Just ditch the WDC or move to single-car teams. That'll sort it, I'm sure. 8-)

Yeah, it would and it would make it a hell of a lot more exciting for sure.

You could get 20 cars on the grid still, a lot of teams would join as they only have to have 50% of the funds needed usually.

I'm not forgetting that, there are risks in racing, if it is too easy with no risk of crashes, nobody would watch and nobody would pay the salaries or sponsorship deals.

And it's is kind of an illusion that team champ means more, even if it pays more to the team. For sponsorship money it is really important who gets attention and drivers champion gets much more tv limelight than constructors. For Ferrari and Mercedes kind of teams that also sell cars this might be less relevant but for the others drivers championship gives more visibility = more money.

Red Bull has got their hands full. There is nothing to can really outside of firing Vettel, because you can undo what has happened. You can scold him all you want but its been done. It smells of BS but what can ya do.

As far as merc goes, if both were on equal footing, well then Hamiliton lucked out.

I wouldn't go to single car teams, but I would take the total points by each player and divide them equally, so in this case webber and vettel would walk away with 21.5 each.

This motivates both team mates to be as fast as possible, and to support one another, that way, it won't matter if it is a 1/2, outside of glory and tokens.

In the cases of a tie, throw it to the fastest lap :P.

Vettel was just following Helmut Markos team orders

I think Vettel did the dirty on Webber. Webber had turned his engine down as he was told to and thought that Vettel would stay behind him - naughty, naughty Seb :whip:

I think Mercedes really shafted Nico, and Lewis knew that. Nico had the fuel to get 3rd place but Lewis Hamilton on the podium in the "home" race would be a sponsors dream. Too bad it turned out to be a nightmare! Lewis has disappointed me with some of the silly comments and tweets he has made in the past but yesterday he went way back up in my estimation. I know that he knows he did not deserve the podium. Kudos to Mercedes and the drivers, but we all know where Nico is now - Number Two.

Nico had plenty fuel and could have been there had the Red Bulls taken each other out, or taken one out, or damaged one. Lewis could not have done anything but Nico might have been able to take advantage. Armchair Team Principle is an easy job

I know Ross Brawn said Nico was saving fuel, but I really dont believe that. We didn't hear it during the race and he had the fuel to get to 3rd. Team orders at their worst for me actually.

I keep coming that to the only silver lining I can think of. I'd rather have all this crap out in the open than via coded radio messages or insidious back room dealings.

We all know it goes on. Hell though it's illegal, Ferrari would have asked Massa to give Alonso his car. But Alonso's ass it too big to fit into Massa's teeny tiny seat. :hehe: It goes on, and it's always been going on. At least this way it's more like the WRC, en votre visage.
