Kimi is quite simply a legend. I loved his comments on the fact the Australian qualifying was postponed until the following day, he was disappointed that he couldn't have a lie in.

Kimi just seem not to have the grip with the car as he did in Aus with some of the onboard footage during the race, had high expectations for kimi and Lotus but never panned out today.

The difference between P1 and TOP10 finish can be rather small currently. Which I found good, that there are more than 1 or 2 teams that can win any GP.
It only needs a small misfortune or luck to turn things from winner to hardly collecting points.
Kimi’s luck at Melbourne:
• Qualification 7th,
+++ good start; took over 2-3 positions in first lap or two
+++ Driving mostly in clean air, easy for tires,
= Cruising to win

Kimi’s misfortune at Sepang:
• Qualification 7th,
--- 3P grid penalty
--- Lost a few positions at start if I’m not mistaken, fighting to overtake Perez at least twice, no clear air, hard for tires. Didn’t he also lose some nose pieces from the car, which I assume don’t improve the aero. (I was watching in bar, so couldn’t focus 100%)
= Collecting just a few points

But I wouldn’t call it a lost case yet for the WDC.

Vettel in Reb Bull looks strong, but still vulnerable when Merc and Ferrari get their act together without incidents. And now there might be even more inside team heat at RB and Vettel cannot count for much support from Webber. Not that he really needs it too much, but if your teammate hates you to the level that he wants to sabotage your race it’s no good, it starts to look we’ll be soon there when overtaking Webber becomes a bigger risk than Alonso . That's what I call team spirit.

Maybe we are lucky to get full dry race that it is not so random. It would be nice to see the normal speed of teams for once. normally I wish for a bit of rain to make things more exciting, but enough is enough. and maybe the Red Bull’s crazy man to screw up with overtaking fight next race, one DNF evens up the WDC race. Is that too much to ask?

I think the cold weather at Australia made Kimi and the lotus look good. He could do less pitstops than the other cars and that's what won it. In the warmer weather that advantage was gone. The reason Grosjean wasn't up there as well was because he didnt get the same parts on the car as quickly ? Something like that with Grosjean.

If I'm not mistaken Lotus did one less pitstop in Sepang too. It just didn't go as well with the positions, grid penalty, and a bad start. It took 10 laps to get back to 10th, so it is really small mistakes that killed it. The race speed was still there.

Kimi's lap times for example after first pitstop when he was not overtaking or fighting for a position where no worse than the two Red Bulls. Below a small sample, sorry have to collect them manually from pdf file, so it takes some time to get them all there.

What comes to Grosjean I think he is already a clear 2nd driver after last year erratic performance, and team has started developing the car more to Kimi's style, but maybe he bounces back, you never know.

Vettel, Raikkonen friendship will endure track rivalry

Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel are comfortable with their friendship with each other pointing out that their rivalry on the track won’t affect their relationship.

The Finn won the opening race of the season in Australia, while the defending champion emerged victorious in Malaysia. Lotus, however, looks stronger than last season and has the potential to compete as a contender in 2013.

But that won’t change anything between the two world champions, who get along very well with each other.

"What happens on the track and life outside the cockpit are two completely different pairs of shoes. We are both professionals who can separate one from the other,” Raikkonen told the official Formula 1 website.

“I always wonder what people are expecting us to do? That we are running with a knife through the paddock seeking revenge after a race incident, or what?” he asked.

Vettel echoed the 33-year-old’s views.

"You have to separate your professional from your private life,” the German said. “But of course we never crashed into each other. How we would both react then, I don’t know, but I am sure that this would be off the table again very fast.”

I've been reading a lot on Facebook today that even Dietrich Mateschitz says Kimmi will always be a contender for Vettel's team mate next year. I think we could see it happen!!!
