Just been watching this documentary on ITV4 which focusses on Anthony Davidson and Super Aguri's season in comparison with Hamilton's. The beginning documentary tends to talk a lot on how good both Davidson and Hamilton are as drivers, but how they've ended up in 2 different teams at both ends of the scale and how they got there. We all know how Lewis got there, but Davidson, having been successful like Lewis in lower formulae had to wait and wait for his chance.

Davidson is another example of a British driver who never had the luck or was given a decent car, just like Martin Brundle and Derek Warwick. I reckon Davidson could have been doing much better had Williams not had their offer blocked by the big cats at Honda back in late 2004, he has been kept on the sidelines by them and has only been given his chance last season. He was also a big rival of Jenson Button back in their karting days, so I wonder who would be the better if given the same car - and also in this case prepared by the same team.

I saw that a while ago and it really was a good watch. I think Davidson is quite overlooked and underrated because he was a test driver for so long and his debut was in such an uncompetitive car. I'd have liked it if he had been considered for the second McLaren seat, or maybe one at Toyota or Renault when they were looking. He deserves a good car and I can only hope that he gets one soon.

As well as his success in lower formulae, he was an F1 tester for 5 years, which surely must have made him qualified for a race seat a couple of years earlier. It's funny the first 3 GP's he had, he had two in a Minardi, in which he spun off in Hungary, was as fast as Toyotas, Jordans and BAR's at Spa, and then when he got a race for BAR in 2005, his car broke down on the first lap! The guy had terrible luck.

Even last year, he was on for 3rd or 4th place in Montreal before he hit that wretched beaver!

And this year, both him and Taku have a terrible car, so I wouldn't expect any points for either of them.
