If only McLaren had the foresight to design McLaren brand baggy pant and basketball jerseys Lewis would have probably stayed.

Great stuff, I like it. At 2.10 he says 'developing a car I think Im good at it, other drivers not as good as me' Sounds like he was ignored at McLaren wrt input on development. No wonder he left

At the end does he say he is really into water boarding :yikes:

That would be quite extreme but no, waterskiing and wakeboarding.

Cool vid Hammer, I was gonna post it but see you beat me to it. I love to see him looking relaxed and just chatting, not having to watch every word he says. LOL the ' developing the car' bit jumped out at me. He's really fired up about getting to grips with that Mercedes. He must have been very frustrated at not being involved at that level before. He's clearly an adrenalin junkie, but I suspect all the F1 drivers are, nature of the beasts.

Yeah I know, I was just getting this image of Lewis and Roscoe and poor Jenson in the private jet in international airspace :hehe:

Lewis hitting back just a little prematurely....? I do hope not.

Lewis Hamilton hits back at critics who doubted logic of his Mercedes switch

 wrote:">
Lewis Hamilton has admitted he has taken great satisfaction from already proving critics of his move to Mercedes wrong.

Many seasoned observers, including some legendary ex-drivers such as triple-World Champion Sir Jackie Stewart, publicly doubted the wisdom of 28-year-old's decision to leave his long-time McLaren home at the end of last season for Mercedes, given his new team had failed to establish themselves as consistent frontrunners in their first three years back in team ownership.

However, while Hamilton himself has repeatedly played down what they can achieve in their first year together, the new combination has started far more competitively than many had anticipated after Mercedes set the pace right at the end of testing and Hamilton qualified third, and then finished a promising fifth in the race, at the season-opener in Melbourne.

With his old employers in turn struggling badly at the start of the new campaign, verdicts on Hamilton's move have, if anything, lurched dramatically the other way in recent weeks - and the sea change in opinion has not been lost on the 2008 World Champion himself.

"It's nice to prove people wrong," Hamilton was quoted as saying by The Daily Telegraph.

"It has been everyone, particularly all the ex-drivers commenting that it was the worst decision ever. They said: 'He's going to finish nowhere, they're going to be nowhere.' And then they contradicted themselves, going the other way.

"They don't know what they're talking about. They're either this way or that, when the truth is the bit in the middle."

While Hamilton has consistently tried to manage expectations since arriving at Brackley, the 28-year-old insists that at no stage did he suggest the W04 would be completely off the pace in 2013 either.

Nonetheless, he admits they still weren't expecting to be quite as strong as they were at Albert Park - and that he actually thinks they could have achieved an even better result.

"We didn't ever come out and say: 'We'll kick everyone's butt,' but we never said that we would be c**p, either," Hamilton explained.

"The team have done well, I'm really proud of my team. I'm proud of my decision as well. For all of us, we were not expecting to be competing where we were.

"But we could have done better. We definitely had the capability to do better, it's just that some things didn't play into our hands. We still take a lot out of the race, we're positive, and for the next race (in Malaysia on Sunday) we will be even stronger.

"We have a good development platform now, and I am really, really happy with the result."

As a permanent venue, the Sepang circuit on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur should provide a better representation of the true pecking order in 2013 than the streets of Albert Park and Hamilton thinks they can do even better this weekend.

"Our understanding of the tyres has improved," he added.

"For the next race I think that we will be much stronger - we have a good development platform. I'm really happy with that first result. We can use the ten points as a base. Everyone was talking us down but I hope this is the beginning of better things.

"I definitely feel that the team are flat out - they are on it. We're moving in the right direction and we have some bits coming that I hope can allow us to make the next step."

Well when we said, "Maybe Lewis knows something we don't know" it was probably McLaren's pull-rod front suspension and the fact that they'd be slow at the start of the year.

McLaren can make the car fast for sure, they're arguably the best team on the grid in terms of car development and upgrades, but what about 2014? McLaren can't spend all of this year focusing on fixing their car when 2014 is such a crucial year.

Hope to see Honda come back in 2015 for McLaren. From what Martin Whitmarsh was saying, it could be a done deal.

You can't make a year end prediction from one race, but what I get more than anything from this read is the 'my' and I statement Lewis makes, my team, I will be much stronger, there's a feeling of empowerment and a sense of doing something while leading a charge instead of doing what you're told or playing a role.

He's a changed man for sure.

yeah, HAVE IT!!!!!!!!

I dont think lewis is being premature. He said he'd rather take a sabbatical than stay at McLaren. And since then he is in a team not just on the grid, but competitive, its a no lose all the way.

The only way any of the 'pay as you go drivel' Jackie Stewart type has beens could be right is if McLaren turn out to not only have a good car but could have made him as happy as he is now.

Deafening silence from Anthony Davidson, Stewart, 'Im not a poofter, honest' Stirling Moss, Brundle, etc etc

Talking about Brundle, did anyone notice how excited he was with Jenson in Q2. He said 'if anyone can find the grip, its Jenson'

Thats my thoughts exactly. If it does go down hill from now here on in, it gives his nay-sayers even more ammunition to come back at him with. I would of given it at least until Europe, or even mid season to say something myself.

I agree. Even if it isnt as successful a season as he might hope, it will surely still be satisfying and rewarding - just on another level.
