Can those probably more in the know than myself clear something up for me.

Surely it's fairer for all to rerun the whole of qualifying of track conditions will be closer to those expected for the race in Q2 & Q3

This is based on my, possibly flawed, understanding that once a car is out of qualifying only very limited changes can be made to its set up, where as those still in qualifying can make any changes they want while still in it.

I know even a standard qualifying session can have huge differences in track conditions, but to adjourn until just a few hours before the race must give those teams still in qualifying a disproportionate advantage.

I don't think any of the cars can change their basic set up....can they? Only the tyre choice.but I'm not sure.

Finally found the regs in the Parc Ferme section of F1.com, not in Qualifying http://www.formula1.com/inside_f1/rules ... 5/fia.html

If Q2/3 are warm and dry that could mean teams can claim section O) covering a change in climactic conditons would come into effect.

In which case those cars running in Q2 & 3 would have an added advantage over those who don't have a chance to run.

If this were the case surely, in the interest of fairness, those not running should have to be given a session the equivalent of Q1 to also make the changes allowed under that rule.

Then again this decision breaks so many rules of Parc Ferme, not unsealing until 3 1/2hours before race etc, that they are now setting a precedent that may come back to haunt them if this happens again & they make a different decision.

Well, turns out staying up all night to watch practice and qualifying wasn't a great idea after all. At least I managed to pinch my parents' Sky Go details so I could watch in bed.

FTW!!

So the way I've got it figured out, qualifying tomorrow is 11 am Melbourne time which is 8 PM Saturday for me. The TV listings are all hosed up and I want to make sure I don't miss it this evening. don't think I'll stay up for the race though.

Gonna take a long nap around 7pm, get up for qualifying at 1am, and take another long nap until the race preview starts at 6am. Then I reckon another short nap from 10am to 1pm to have a good Sunday.

GMT+1 should be Swiss time correct? If so, 1am for me....and then 7am for the race. Damn, things were so much easier in Msia even with delays! :irked:

yeps

For me it's breakfast quali at 8am. And it's St. Patricks, so I might break my principle of no beer at breaky.
I guess a Guinness with bacon and eggs will start the day just nicely and a short nap after that before GP and the big St Pats party at Mulligans. Hope I'll remember the finish of the race.
