Interesting session.

I know its only FP1..... but, there were some good and bad signs. Toro Rosso can't get back to their 08 pace ;_; McLaren didn't look too hot (but again, only FP1). Sutil beating di Resta, who'd a thunk it Bianchi is probably the biggest thing at the moment. Almost a whole second ahead of the other backmarkers, who were all within 2 tenths of each other, and only a few tenths off Toro Rosso. #bringbackKovalainen

Havent seen the session but looking at the times it looks really close. Vettel on top with the ferraris close behind and it seems like massa has brought back his late 2012 form with alonso close behind and mercedes looks like pre season form was true which is great but one question are there any rules and regs set by the fia for practice? Like in fp1 are they only allowed to do short runs or low fuel or do whatever program the team wants?

Sitting at corner one, Ferrari and Redbull were clearly carrying more speed through there.

Yep, forgot about Massa, but, he looks like he's got some pace. Love to see how if Alonso has matured in 6 years and can actually deal with a teammate who can consistently challenge him.

No lap rules, but they can only use DRS on the pitstraight and between T2 and T3.

Interesting also to note that the top 5 teams took up 10 of the top 11 positions!

It's a little ominous that Vettle is 3/10ths quicker in FP1.

Quick note:

Lewis Hamilton had an issue pulling out of his box, failed to do a burnout and seemed to have an issue with his gearbox then on the outlap he went off. Looked for a puncture as he didn't know what was wrong.

They then told Rosberg to stop just incase there was a gearbox issue, for safety.

and.... Red Bull 1-2 in FP2. Bianchi half a second advantage over the other backmarkers, Sutil and Hulkenberg fastest outside of Red Bull/Mercedes/Lotus/Ferrari. McLaren don't look too impressive.
