Button gives an interview here where it seems apparent to me he's once again trying to have a snide dig at Lewis. Lewis has stated it as it is...there's a lot of corporate stuff at Mclaren. Jenson contradicts this and wax's lyrical about how great everything is at McLaren, then contradicts himself and says what a shock it was to him when he joined McLaren and how much sponsor work has to be done.....yes, that's exactlywhat Lewis said  Lewis has left the team now so this cheap game can stop, not necessary.

Well he's still at the team so like it or not he's gotta keep licking a**e. We can't really expect him to 'agree' with Lewis...Whitmarsh might not find him as attractive anymore, and Button will need to find grip at every race to keep his seat. So its not surprising to me at least.

I don't think it reads like that at all. I think you're reading far too much into everything re: Lewis / Button / McLaren. To me, all Jenson has said is that it is hard work, but that it's not as suffocating as Lewis has made out. Different perspective, and he's entitled to it. None of us can make an informed opinion either way, because the only information we have is coming from two biased sources (Lewis and Jenson). Honestly - calm down - all of this nonsense has already been partly responsible for the McLaren thread getting locked - lets keep this one open!!

Yes Jenson is entitled to his opinion, as is Lewis, but Jenson contradicts himself. He refutes Lewis' statement about McLaren being too restrictive by saying he has 'phenomenal freedom'. He then goes on to say how much sponsor work there is to do. Jenson may have a point, the sponsor work is necessary for Mclaren, so why refute Lewis' comment and call It a criticism of Mclaren? It wasn't, it was stating the same point Jenson was making.

I just don't see it as a contradiction. Having freedom and having sponsor commitments are not mutually exclusive nor solely reliant on each other. For example - freedom could mean many things at a F1 team - it could mean not too many restrictions placed on extra-curricular activities, more input into the development of the car, more input into the strategy, guaranteed time off at certain points in the year - even if busy at others etc.

In fact, in most areas of life, greater freedom comes with the acceptance of greater responsibilities and the two actually can go hand in hand as opposed to being a contradiction. It's not always so black and white, and perhaps not so to base perceived freedom solely on specific work or sponsor commitments.

Of course that's just how I personally see it.

They say what goes around comes around, I even heard some talking about some Carmer stuff, but for me in my whole life I never saw it play out like it is before my eyes.
And its just like one side keep asking for it and keep getting it getting it back in spades, and the other side are just continuing like Voltaires Candide (just the first half) and things keep coming

I guess that depends how you read it and where your allegiances lie. I imagine there's just as many people that read contradiction and unnecessary needling into that statement Button made, as people who think its just fine.

I saw the contradiction clearly and Im not biased in anyway!

JB said 'when I first arrived I was shocked at the sponsor demand'

later in same interview says 'I dont know where hes getting this from, its just normal'

Also says 'I have all the freedom I want in this team, they do everything I want'

Either he is having digs at Lewis or its true that the team treated him differently and favoured him over Lewis

(cue the usual culprits crying about conspiracy theories lol)

I have not read the article as I am out and about so will have a proper read of it later.

If what cookinflat has said is a direct quote then he has contradicted himself. However did he mean it is just normal to him now. Everyone knows the Mclaren is a corporate machine so no one can complain.
