Hamilton being tipped for the title now. Talk about a change of views!!

nice to hear though :D

Indeed.

:hehe: he's a bit of an idiot with some of the things he comes out with.....not that Im any technical expert, but even I can see some of the stuff he says is silly. And he can't keep his bias out of things, which is poor for one in his position.

Did I say that about Anderson or Benson? They both do it anyway. I've not changed my view. I still think those two are biased and say silly things. But I guess even they couldn't fail to notice those times Lewis put in yesterday. Going over the top like that though after the things said before makes me even less inclined to take anything said seriously. Doesn't stop me like hearing it though. :D

These TV pundits are a fickle bunch; one good test does not make a championship winning season, even more so when the team themselves don't think it's possible!

Reading between the lines of what Lewis says....and I mean Lewis, not pundits. And also his body language and demeanour. This is what I think. I think he's playing things down and managing expectations, but is pleased with his car. I think he's loving being at Mercedes and the atmosphere there and that will get the best of performances out of him. He says he will be fighting for the top ten but I think he wants and expects to get more than that. I think Lewis still expects the Red Bull to come out and be the class of the field when the racing starts, but I also think Lewis is secretly hoping to be able to fight with the Ferrari's and McLarens.
Wel that's what I think :D

I was thrilled following the test session yesterday. But what confused me at first is Lewis saying the Merc is not even as good as last years' McLaren...maybe he was too quick to pass judgement and has now found out it's not as bad as he thought it was. Anyway, I agree with you reg his demeanor...better to play things down and trump the field when it matters, than hype themselves up and fall flat on their faces.

What a time though! 1:20:8 with at least 5 laps fuel...more than half a second faster than he did in the Mclaren last year. :cloud9:

Hey, at least its exciting stuff. I think Merc fans just look for a car half a second slower than the best and that's good enough for the drivers to make up for some of the difference. :)

Yeah...that was with an aged driver who was dragging them the wrong way towards Bridgestone feel, and getting the team lost in the end.

I'm still expecting what Lewis predicts. Regular top tens, I won't be disappointed if that's all it is. But I suspect it may be more.

Call me over optimistic, but I think Mercedes has a genuine chance to challenge McLaren for Constructors. With both Merc drivers firing on all cylinders, and McLaren having 1 driver who is still learning the ropes to potential stardom, and another who has his famous 'moods', the drivers could make a huge difference for their teams this season, especially if the two teams are not too far apart on pace. The only question for Merc is development rate through a season. I believe it's clear that they pretty much gave up on the car last year midway...so the flat run they came to looked exaggerated and not representative of their true development pace. But can they match the top 3? We could find out this season.

I think they will beat McLaren often

I think the times have improved though track evolution too, hence Rosberg faster than Hamilton

We'll only ever really know in Melbourne, but you cannot deny that Merc have looked good in testing.
