Today I am HORRIFICALLY hungover. Not had a hangover like this for 18 years. :( it's so bad I couldn't drive to work, and had to take a days holiday.

Can we all keep the noise down please.

Today I continued being ill (for the first time in almost five years, I had to call in sick yesterday and today - remember, no matter how difficult it is, keep yourself fed and hydrated when you're unwell, kids!).

If I cough up one more lump of phlegm I will kill something. :(

If it makes you feel any better, I think I'll be developing some sort of lung disease over the next 5 to 10 years. The air at work is think with dust from salt/grit and lines being burnt off from the yard. We are seriously considering fog lights on our hard hats!

Ah well, worse things happen at sea and I guess you got to die of something. :hehe:

Do they not supply you with PPE? Get environmental health in

HSE come in, employees get masks and stuff, further down the line employers have better things to think about than providing new filters etc. same thing everywhere I've worked and there's been times i've got my own. I have a few mates who've died of or are suffering from silicosis but some of them never bothered with the ppe even when it was provided.

Is there a union? If they provide it and you don't use it you do not have a leg to stand on.

Is there a health and safety rep?

What's a health and safety rep?

Small businesses in the construction industry can be a nightmare when it comes to H&S.

That would mean spending money!

We were told that an industrial floor washer and hoover was being sent yesterday from one of the bases on the other side of town, however we're still waiting for it.

We only have 3!

In theory a health and safety rep' is basically the person who you take your H&S concerns to and they offer advice, come up with a solution or takes your concern(s) to the management.
