How come you watch at Bridge? Is that one of the better places for overtaking?

Edit: Does that come under General Admission? I'm thinking of going this year...

Watched there general entry once-just the other side of the fence from the enclosure seating but you have to get there very early. After that we went in the enclosure-they are the cheapest Grandstand seats £144 for three days but that was with early booking discount. Not the best place to see overtaking but good to see them speading out from the bridge and round the complex. Also a big screen is there to view the rest of the track.

Ah, okay. Early wouldn't really be a problem for me :P

Would you say it is worth it to get seats in the grandstands in that area over just general admission? I'm not really sure where the best place would be, to be honest. For some reason the British GPs never seem to stick in my head much, so I can never remember where all the action happens.

I mean really early! You need to be sitting first row behind the fence. 6am or earlier. So yes the extra 40 odd quid is worth it to sroll in at nine, specially if youve been drinking and out to the fair etc night before. Also you can sit in any grandstand on the fri&sat. At the best overtaking places you usually have to sit quie a way back from the track, at bridge you are relatively close to the cars and they do overtake in the complex.

If Tilke ever got his hands on Silverstone, he would deface it like this.

I'd rather not have a British GP than have that monstrosity as a track. They can't do that to Silverstone! It'd be like tearing down Big Ben and replacing it with a digital clock! :(

They could go for some 1950s period styling. :D

Haven't they already got that?

Well, yes, but I mean they can build larger, more up to date pits, VIP facilities etc. than the currently inadequates ones in the style of that era, certainly on the outside.

I was trying to refrain from reacting to this, but I simply can't. This has to be like the third time Silverstone has unveiled its vision for the future, how about they actually get to work? For all their bleating about its importance, they don't seem to try very hard.

I tell you what if Bernie does not step in, or somebody else with deep pocket's, and Silverstone is lost, which I dont think will happen, it will be the first of many dagger's plunged into the heart and soul of F1! IMHO I find it simply atrocious that Silverstone is not being taken care of and kept up to date with the rule's, it is the heart and soul of F1 because of it's history.

Government to outline motorsport policy

By Jonathan Noble Wednesday, March 5th 2008, 17:20 GMT

The British government will have to explain how it intends to help secure Britain's motorsport industry from overseas threats in a debate in the House of Lords tomorrow.

With the long-term future of the British Grand Prix still uncertain, and many believing that the motorsport industry would suffer if the event was lost, the government is coming under pressure to lend its support.

Now, the government will have to officially declare its intentions during a debate that has been prompted by Shadow Defence Minister and President of the Motorsport Industry Association (MIA), Lord Astor of Hever.

Baroness Vadera will give the response when asked: "what plans they (the government) have to improve support for the British motorsport industry to ensure it does not lose its global leadership."

Silverstone is not looking that much money when you consider how much it takes to run a country. Perhaps some arrangement could be made whereby the government put something towards it, sponsors put something towards it and BRDC put something towards it. This scenario has gone on for too long, in fact, I'm sick of it. Nobody has organised anything, nobody as even so much as organised a meeting to even put some possible solutions on the table. If they can't even get that far, Silverstone is doomed, and it would nobody but the owners of the track's fault. Although Silverstone is not as bad as Ecclestone would have us believe, things do need done and the powers that be have had plenty of time to sort something out.
