Really? McLaren have had some pretty dire pre-season tests in recent years!

But be warned; any more of the personal insults and bickering will result in the offending users being places under lock and key, not the thread!

Perez learning from 'good guy' Button

They have only been team-mates for a few weeks, but Sergio Perez feels he is already benefitting from having an experienced driver like Jenson Button alongside him.

The 23-year-old Perez is teaming up with the 2009 World Champion at Woking this season after swapping Sauber for McLaren. While the 2013 campaign will be the Mexican's third year in Formula One, this season will mark Button's 13th on the grid.

Perez admits he has picked up several things from his new team-mate in recent weeks.

"I'm very lucky driver to have a champion next to me as well as such a good guy," he is quoted as saying by ESPNF1.

"We are working so well together and I've been learning so much from him in my short [McLaren] career. Definitely the pressure is there, the team expects a lot from me and I expect the same; I want to go out there and win the Championship and fight everybody.

"I will work together with Jenson to learn a lot from him and I think we are doing very well."

Perez got his first taste of the new McLaren MP4-28 during the pre-season test at Jerez last week and he admits he still has several things he need to adapt to at his new team.

"The procedures are very different and the way the car works," he added. "It's basically like learning how to set up a car with different tools.

"This is quite difficult because every team has different strategies on the steering wheel and not everyone speaks the same on the radio. That is something new for me but that is very good as well."

Sounds like Perez knows how to play the game. Good on him! He'll need to!

Are you saying that Perez is insincere?

Or maybe he is being honest and they are all........................

Sorry, couldn't resist.

yes Sergio is a wily one, he has already called Whitmarsh a 'father figure' and now Jenson a nice guy. He is well on his way to settling into the McLaren 'disturbingly good steak dinner and favours' programme.

As long as he doesn't drop anything in the MTC he should be fine

I can see Jenson and Sergio having quite a good working relationship over the course of the next year. Fingers crossed.

The working relationship Lewis and Button had wasn't that bad was it?

No it wasn't bad at all, Lewis even said so himself.
Sergio has a lot to learn and JB is the perfect team mate for him.

Maybe it will work, for McLaren's sake. My concern is that the driving styles will mean that we're going to see McLaren either get it very right or not so right during GP weekends with no ability to hedge their bets whatsoever.

I think everyone's underestimating both Button and Perez, if their styles are similar like people are assuming then that will only help the team moving forward.

I think that's what WB meant. With the car designed to suit Button and Perez having a similar style, things should mostly be good. But if anything out of the ordinary happens, such as the wind changing direction , the tyres not behaving as expected at a certain circuit, or just a weekend when a good set- up can't be found, then both drivers will be floundering, there won't be anyone to just get out there and score points regardless.
