Having watched F1 seriously since 2006,
I have a feeling that this coming season will another classic -

Alonso will be out to win the Championship.

Lewis will be out to beat Button in the new Merc.

Button will be out to prove that he is McLarens number 1.

Seb will be out to prove that Red Bull and himself are the partnership to beat.

Webber will be out to prove that his great performances in 2012 were no fluk.

Rosberg will be out to prove that Lewis is beatable in a car & team he knows.

Perez will be out to prove that experience doesn't always mean faster.

Five weeks to go until lights out at Melbourne.....I can't wait!! :D

Where is the stress factor this year?

1 McLaren needs a championship to validate their controversial decision not to keep Lewis and their lackluster reliability last year.

2 Mercedes needs to make a massive leap forward to be seen like a team that can contend for wins and podiums every GP, anything less will be seen as a failure by the board and the fans.

3 Ferrari wants a championship so there is stress, but it's only an internal stress as they have been able to actually fight for championships against all odds.

4 Red Bull is under the least amount of stress of the leading teams, the only mission there is to keep doing what they're doing but no one will see them not being able to bring home a championship or two this year as a failure and they're better than 50/50 to bring a fourth one back.

5 Lotus is in the same boat as Red Bull, they've got the least amount of external pressure and solely need to focus on doing what they've been doing but I'm sure they'd see anything but an honest to goodness championship fight as a disappointment.

I'm on my iPad so that's it for the typing. Maybe I'll do the rest of the grid but other than Williams and Sauber, the stress level back there is certainly not as severe as in the pointy end.

I've got a feeling that this is going to be another 2011 personally. Not really got any high hopes for an entertaining championship, i just hope at least the races are good.

Oh? What makes you 'feel' that way? Do you know something we don't? Will there be a runaway driver? Who?

My gut feeling is just that Red Bull and McLaren are definitely going to be ahead of the other teams, and i don't think McLaren's lineup can be consistent enough over the season - much like 2011. Although, i don't think qualifying will be as bad as 2011 was, i think that will be closer. So i've got 20 quid on Vettel winning the title again - win win for me, even if he does win the title i at least get a payout.

Maybe my feeling will change over the next few weeks, but we'll see.

Nahhh I don't think it'll be a RBR cakewalk. Whether they end up winning or not, it's impossible to say, but somehow, at the moment, I'm not expecting domination or anything.

I tend to agree with that. My slim stomach feeling is that it'll be a very tight championship all the way to the last races. Not many reg changes usually helps this kind of scenario.

I'm all for another Red Bull cakewalk but I can't see them winning 4 years on the trot. I reckon McLaren and Button will do it this year. I'll eat my hat if they don't.

...I'm not expecting domination or anything.

I'm sure DD can change that for you!:whip:

Yeah but at the end of last year you swore blind Vettle wasn't going to win the championship. Maybe your gut needs a retune.....?
