RD is "damaged" through no fault of his own. The spy affair, and the 2 bickering children in his charge are to blame. There was nothing he could do. Now there's no way he can do his job like he did before. He must go. It's better for him and it's better for the team.

If its true, its a sad day. Like the man or not, he's done a lot for F1

He has done a lot for F1 and i'm sure it will be a sad day. However recent events have cost him €100 million and his 22 year marriage. Clearly he has decided to re-prioritize and put his family first. Recent events have tarnished Mclaren's reputation especially among those who do not follow the sport closely but watch due to the Hamilton effect. I think it's a good thing if he remains in the team but not as team principal.

Oh well Ron Dennis, think of the bright side, at least I can stop not liking you once you have stepped down from McLaren. :D

Well, he will still have some input and be a shareholder. The champagne will have to stay on the ice for a little while yet.

its a shame he had to go out with all this spying stuff in his wake,

he was definitely one of the fairest team bosses

Well, he'd certainly get my vote as Max's replacement if he gets bored with retirement.

I wish he had . Maybe he will but i think not. he was ready to let go when all that fuss started. Its so unfair it happens like this after all he's done. I think its an irony that what he wanted most was to win by fair means ......and then he gets accused of cheating by folk with far less integrity than he has, thats not right. I agree Mooker, hed be a way better FIA leader but can you really see that happenning?

He'd probably do a good job. But could you imagine what would happen if a decision went in the favour of McLaren? That's why I feel that nobody who has had such involvement in a team should be able to be in charge of the FIA, because it could lead to biased decisions on the grounds of favouritism. Or at least, accuastions of such behaviour... :(

But he will still be a McLaren principal and we are all wanting no one who is so closely associated with a team to replace Max. They should try to lure Jack Welch the ex-GE ceo out of retirement LOL, he know's how to turn around a floundering orginazation.

Regardless of my personal dis-like for Ron he's been a skilled opponent, therefore he should be respected.

I wont be sad to see him go however.
