Oh My God I can not believe that Nico and Mercedes are ganging up on Lewis already. I am sure Ross Brawn was tampering with the rear brake lines!
[/conspiracy]

Don't tell me it's started already?

Where are you from Andrew?

Because he needs to know for his files. He's part of the conspiracy, man!!

Gary Anderson truly is a tool. A former Engineering director, I wondered why he is now at the BBc and not TD at any team

Lewis crashes into the tyre barrier and he concludes immediately that Lewis locked his brakes and went off

How would locked brakes cause the amount of smoke spewing from the back and would he not at least slow the car down somewhat on the way to the tyres?

Not looking good so far for Mercedes, I can't be the only person not expecting stuff from them at all, despite them signing Lewis Hamilton?

Couldn't resist, but......

:hehe:

I would imagine Anderson was just hypothesising on initial impressions. He'spretty clued up but even clued up people make mistakes at times. :censored: happens.

Is this the kick start to the self fulfilling prophesy?

Yeah that really pissed me off. You hope to glean something from these 'experts' and you get biased crap. And he wasn't the only one, I was watching on twitter. What LEWIS actually says is he hit the brakes and they worked for a second then nothing and he elected to hit the barrier head on because otherwise you can rip the side off the car and do far more damage. Ok? got that Gary?

Don't know this Gary Anderson guy, but he's got a pretty dammed mediocre dossier. Anyone that saw that happen know instantly that it was a mechanical failure, the cloud of smoke coming from the back wheels.

You have NO idea...he used to commentate on Star Sports...and he is ANTI-Lewis. So no surprise there, for me at least. The guy picks any moment possible to say Lewis is that, he should be more that, and this, and btw, Alonso is God and Button is a great driver. Tool doesn't start to describe him.

He was technical director at Jordan and is very knowledgeable, but as I said above, even the knowledgeable people make the odd mistake. I would suspect he was commenting on first impressions.

He was pretty fair and balenced on the BBC coverage. Folks biggest gripe was his thick Irish accent.

I blame the Aliens.

Undoubtably not a good start. But Lewis and Nico are reasonably upbeat. Nico said It was a tough day but they'll come back stronger, he then went to learn guitar on his blackberry :hehe:
Lewis was not worried about the brake failure but frustrated by the lack of mileage. He said the time he did ( which was what fasted or second fastest? At the time).......was easy to do and there was definitely more there . But he wants more aero and is pushing the aero guys, it's not where his McLaren was on aero.

Good thing is that the car doesnt look slow from the few laps weve seen, and the impression from the whole team isnt one of 'disapointing performance' flavour

We know the car is more 'unknown and untested' than the front runners from last year, so it is actually par for the course

Better to have a fast 'glitchy' car than a slow 'complete' one on day 2 of testing

cant wait to see some proper long runs etc

I think they need some time to settle down....with all the off season changes and rumours, it must have affected them to a degree.

No harm taking a race or two to get all this stuff ironed out, use them as test mileage and get the car up to par. Nailing the test sessions on mileage and speed is important for those going for Championships.
